I just got back from WDW and Discovery Cove, where I particapted in the Trainer for a Day program. I highly recommend this program I had 3 separate different dolphins encounters during the day, went to the Avairy first, then dolphins, small mammals, dolphins, lunch, feeding sharks, stingrays and fish and the last dolphin encounter. We had a behind the scenes tour and they were showing us all that goes into preparing the food for the different animals, also the record keeping of what each animal eats and if they ate is huge. These animals are well taken care of. Our trianer Gina was very helpful and explained everything. I did buy the video (50.00) and 3 pictures (15.00 each) and they provided each one of us in the group with a waterproof disposable camera that we took home and got developed. Our trainer would take the pictures when each one of us held the animals or were in the water with them. Each camera had our last name wrote on it so we wouldn't get them mixed up. You have to be 13 years of age and you really shouldn't be afraid of the water, you will go into very deep water but even if you can't swim the vest will hold you up.

I saw a special about this on TV recently - probably the Travel Channel. It looked like fun and a great way to learn more about sea life! Sounds like you had a marvelous experience!

Hi Kgeorge,
Thanks for the information, I was wondering about this and it sounds really wonderful! One question, did you have time to also swim in the lagoon and just kick back and play, or did it really fill the whole day? The experience just sounds really wonderful  !

Thanks for sharing that info! It sounds like a wonderful birthday present for my daughter-Good think I have almost 7 years to save up the money.
It sounds like an absolutely incredible experience. Maybe I should do it myself! Do you think any of the trainer's were old adults or were most of them youth?

To Pure Panic,
The Trainer for a Day took up the whole day, I had about 1/2 an hour to swim at the end of the day by myself. The last thing we did in the program was to feed the stingrays with minnows (I think) that is done in the public area ans some other guests were coming around but the trainers kept them at bay, then we had a choice to snorkle or go back eary and look at pictures, we choose to snorkel. I would definately do this program again, you see so much more and learn alot about the animals. I may get to go back in May for a conference and I plan to book this if I go. Enjoy.
