Anyone who has experienced this ride please let me know if it causes motion sickness. How realistic is the drop? What rides are the worst (best?) and should be avoided if you cannot tolerate severe drops? It has been 3 years since we visited Universal.

I get carsick whenever someone else is driving me. So motion sickness is very much an issue for me.. However, I did not get sick on Spiderman. Here is my threshold... I can do most all roller coasters (light, suspended, dark and what not.-- had a little trouble on Hulk.) I do not ride on most simulator rides like Star Tours and Body Wars (@ WDW).
I did go on Hanna Barbera at Universal and didn't get sick. So my conclusion is that when i'm not enclosed in a small room I can deal with simulator rides. Back to the Future made me woozy but will always try to ride it once. My husband took dramamine and said that helped.
I would say you really should try spiderman. The drop is realistic feeling but no where near the extent of Tower of Terror. If you can handle Tower of Terror, the drop in spiderman won't phase you at all!
Have a great time on your trip. :ears:

Do you think I could get Hypnotised into liking 'Thrill Rides'??!!:hehe:
Hate seeing DS going on them by himself!:( Can't keep him safe 'looking on'.
Nothing will make me try them!!! Hate to feel unable to get off if I don't like it!!!

I do not want to spoil the ride, but there is a big simulated drop towards the end. Some of my family members are scared of heights and did not mind it. Best thing is early into the ride you will learn whether you like the ride or not. If not, then simply take off your 3D glasses.
To miss this ride would be a shame because I rate it as presently the best out of all theme park rides.
Body Wars always makes me feel sick and I don't get motion sickness!

I did spider man ...twice ...i felt a bit sick after the second time ..but i guess i should have left a break between but when there is no Q its tempting to do it again
did the hulk twice in a row and felt fine.
White queen i was determined to do ALL the rides .One of my tricks was to time the rides .....for instance duelling dragons by my watch was only 45 seconds ....takes longer to give blood and I hate needles :)

Looks like I'm going to have to try the hulk again. Can't believe know one else got sickly like me on it. I think I'll try it again but do it last.
I agree wholeheartedly... don't skip Spiderman. It really is an incredible ride. The only part that scared me was when the creepy Phantasm jumped on the car. I know he was looking right at me. :p

dont know whether this will help but i tried to keep my eyes open and look further than my knees ....it made the ride seem bigger and smoother :)

Spiderman is fantastic and it would be a shame to miss it. However hubby suffers from motion sickness and felt queasy all day after doing this. But he has it real bad. How about you leave it till later in the day, do it because it has to be done if you can, then if you do feel queasy you won't upset your whole day. :D

Thanks for all the great info and tips. I guess I will give it a go and follow Scotch Mist 's advice to leave it for later in the day. If I have a problem I will follow trevorsem's advice and take off the 3-D glasses.

I'd strongly recommend riding Spiderman just after The Hulk, if not before. Whilst there it broke down almost everytime I queued, which only adds to the lines.

Just thought I'd warn you that the queues for this can be very long so, if you do leave it until later, get a fastpass - and even these run out pretty quickly.

Spiderman is a reall cool ride. The special effects are truely amazing! In the drop part of the ride you get the idea that your falling but it's not really a motion sickness kinda thing.
Why not get someone else to ride it then come back and listen to what they have to say and then give it a go! If you can handle ToT then Spiderman is a doddle!
