I tell you I am soooo nervous at transporting my gown to WDW from the UK. It is a very traditional dress with full gown and train. We also have 5 full size suitcases to get to WDW - I dont Pack Lightly.......akaids have their Flower Girl Ballgowns to transport and the amount of luggage SCARES me!!!!!!! I have decided to pack much lighter for our September trip, as I realise there are some lovely outfits to be bought at WDW - especially at Adventureland:ears: Any tips / hints?

Mitra - have you considered sending all the formals through UPS with a tracking number ahead of time? Just a thought...

Unfortunately I'm no help. I had a traditional dress made for me in Hawaii...

Just got home from dinner at a nearby seafood restaurant (yeah, I know I don't "do" seafood... I had a steak - but we did have a bottle of wine..) so I am mellow and introspective!

Well I was dreading taking it but it wasn't a problem thankfully!

USAIR were more than happy to accommodate it as a special item and hung it up for us.

Even through security it wasnt a problem.. just had to fit it through the carry on scanner which it did without a problem even though it's a full uk style wedding dress with train etc

Can't speak for other airlines but USAIR isn't anything super special in the service dept. so I'd assume the others would be ok too! We did phone them before we left though just to tell them that we'd be boarding with the dress and they apparently put a note by our tickets in the system.

On the Disney wedding forum there was a thread about someone posting their dress by UPS and it not turning up :( the driver apparently delivered it to another address in error but then couldn't remember where he'd taken it :( DOH. They never got it back although I guess/hope they got the dress paid for but it feels like a bit of a risk to me though much easier than carrying it!

(there was a similar thread about photos + negatives posted via ups and also never turning up :( and of course without negatives, they had nothing at all :((

If you have any questions, ask away! but I'd say you'll be fine and it'll be easier than you think...

OMG redkop! You sound exactly like my DH!
DH: "Honey, why can't I wear jeans to my brother's wedding?"
Me: "Because, dear, you are the best man!"
DH: "Yeah, and...?"

Dh is wearing a dark blue suit - not a tux. DS is wearing shirt and pants. It'll be me and the girls who are really over the top in ballgown style dresses:rolleyes: ;) . I dont think I will chance sending the dress by post. I will just struggle with it and let DH and DS manage 5 suitcases between them:hehe: Funny thing is I bought the dress from the internet and had it shipped from the USA and now I am taking it back over to the USA!!! Luckily the underhoop for the dress folds down quite compact:)
