Dine with Shamu

When I visit Disney in May, I will also be visiting Sea World. I was reading about the "Dine with Shamu" and it sounds great. I'm looking for some more information on it. Has anyone on here done this and if so, how was it? Is it worth the expense?

yeah i did dine with shamu back in 97.........it was fantastic....well back then you had a dinner style buffet and then after you have eaten they bring in the shamu and co........the trainers are on hand to answer your questions and they get shamu to do some tricks and if there are kids there they get the kids to do the hand movements to instruct them.........you get some great close up pics as they get shamu up on the side of the pool......i think in 97 it cost $25 and then extra if you wanted alchol.....check this sea world link out.though ut doesnt give you a price or a menu (very helpfull that)

Oh thank you Chris! It sounds great!

I have already called and it's $32 for adults and $18 for kids. I think we will put that on our "must do" list. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be an Orca trainer at Sea World. I even started out in college as a Marine Biology major. It's still my passion, but being a mommy became my career. My son is as passionate about the Orcas as I am, so I know he'll be thrilled.

good for you and your son pinkrose........i expect to see pics of the dine with shamu in your trip report......seriously i would love to do something like that but we dont get many whales swimming down the River Mersey here in Liverpool...........we do have an aquirium (my spelling is terrible as you will see)....and i took the kids there in the summer holidays.......there thought it was fantastic......and kept saying i bet this is better than sea world..........ha ha ha....are they in for a surprise

Oh Chris, the kids are going to have a WONDERFUL time! I just know you can't wait to see the expressions on their faces.
I will make sure and post pics when I do my trip report. Wow, it feels like May is so far away. lol

Do they set a big table place for Shamu?

they did to start with, but shamu kept making such a mess and trying to eat everyones food:rolleyes:

LOL Rookie.........so you were there that day i was.........that wasnt shamu that was me in my juventus top.............anyone onto the thread.......the lay out 6 tables........with one end at the side of the tank and then they get shamu to sort slide on up to the end of the table........advisable to eat your food first
