Has anyone any suggestions for the best place for a light breakfast at Universal? (coffee, pastries, maybe cereal)

We are staying at Royal Pacific, but wondered if there were any park alternatives to the onsite Islands Dining Room that you can recommend.:)

I'm terrible with names of places at Universal, but there are a couple of restaurants/counter service places that offer pastries, fruit, coffee, juices, etc. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't go there often enough to be more exact!

There's a place - either just inside IOA or just outside - that sells giant cinnamon buns straight from the ovens for breakfast. Can't remember what it's called though, but you just have to follow the smell - can't miss it.

Ah, now that would be Croissant Moon perhaps in IOA?

Some of the smells coming out of there are fantastic!

Okay, now I'm hungry!

There's also Cinnabon in Citywalk, not exactly sure what they have, but they might be worth a look.

That was it - Cinnabon!!!

Giant gooey cinnamon rolls straight from the oven. Drooling all over keyboard now.:) They do kiddie size ones too.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
Another item to add to my notebook.:D

Talking of tasty food, I must pop in to Dunkin' Donuts whilst in FL. They are longer in UK.:(

Cinnabon, in addition to the "regular" cinnamon buns with that gooey sugar glaze, have ones with chocolate between the layers and ones with caramel between the layers. It's enough to make your teeth snap.

Croissant Moon is one place, and as you say LavendarLamb, it's in IOA, but there is another place (or couple) in Universal.

Anyway, the point is, it shouldn't be too much trouble to find some quick breakfast items whether or not you indulge in the 3400 calorie laden cinnabon (and that's just the mini)! ;)

Ooooooooh, caramel!

Right, if there is no other reason to book another holiday, then it'll have to be for the buns!

Ooooh I just remembered. Inside Universal Studios (not IOA, the other park) just before you get to the Terminator theater there's a kind of French pattiserie place that does coffee and gooey sugary offerings for breakfast.

I'm pretty sure there's a similar place round by the Earthquake area too, but I could have hallucinated that one after devouring 3400 calories of cinnamon bun.:D

....only 3400?????

LOL!!

You'll not have a single problem what so ever if you are looking for a sweet breakfast! (I'm not kidding about the cinnabon place, it is so sweet the scent makes my teeth ache)! :D :D :D

Hey ya'll! I believe the name of the place you're trying to come up with in Universal Studios is Beverly Hills Boulangerie. It's right across from the Tribute to Lucy.

The names of the places in IOA are Croissant Moon Bakery and Cinnabon's and they are both in Port of Entry. The Bakery is on the right side - I'm not sure where Cinnabon's is.

And I believe that Royal Pacific has a Continental Breakfast Buffet available - I'll know for sure this May after I go!

This is my first visit to this site - I'm planning our second trip to Universal and stumbled across it!

Welcome Southern Belle. Good to see you've found us.

Cinnabon's has two sites. One inside the gates of IOA and one in City Walk. As you enter City Walk from the parking garage walkway it is on your right. You really won't miss it if you follow your nose!

Pastamore has sweet selections also, but I'm not certain they are open for breakfast. Oh! There is a Starbuck's in City Walk, also, if you like there coffee. They have other pastry selections, I think. They are on the second tier of City Walk.

I'll be glad to give you any tips I have when I get back! I'm so excited already! I've already made reservations for Tchoup Chop. We're also definitely going to eat at Mythos, Latin Quarter and Margaritaville. We've had dessert at Mythos and ate at Margaritaville 2 years ago and loved them both. I've heard good things about the Latin Quarter so we're giving them a try.

Have you seen how much breakfast at on site table service dining costs here ? I checked out the RPs breakfast menu.

Think I will be eating cereal in my room

:p

Yes, the in-room service is very expensive.
Plus you have to add on $3 hotel charge, 20% gratuity and tax!
So by my reckoning, to have a cup of coffee delivered to your room, would cost over $12!!!

Who said I can afford to stay there ;) ?

What I want and what I can afford are two totally seperate issues:D ;)

I refuse to pay around $11 for a fruit salad for breakfast:p

If they dont let me eat my asda brand cornflakes in My room I will make a nice salad out of their exotic orchids:hehe:

If you hide any evidence of your own food, how would they know you had any? ;)

And what about milk for your cornflakes? You can't get a pint delivered and left outside your door! :)

If it is a factor I believe they charge for parking as well. I know they did when I went there to see the hotel.

US/IOA has really cracked down on people bringing their own food items, including the resort rooms. I'd not worry too much, though. Pick up a small container of milk and keep it on ice in the ice bucket. Use it all the next morning and toss the container in the trash.

On the orchid salad, could I please have a couple of vanilla beans? How much would that increase the charges? :D :D :D

 $8.99 Each - thats an even more expensive salad !!!!!!!

For my convenience... Well I was staying a few doors away from Joe smith whose dog has a fondness for exotic orchids and games of fetch. He then went and brought a dozen pink orchids to my room door, mistakenly thinking it was his owners room and I could not bear to throw them out so I put them in an empty peanut butter jar (to keep them fresh to eat them for brunch;) )

:hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

gulp..... Think I had better diet ....!!!!:(

minniefan wrote a review last year, saying she discovered a fridge under the TV. Her tip was to remove the expensive offerings and to store your own drinks there instead of the ice bucket.
(remember to put back RP goodies when you leave !):D

I am starting to have second thoughts about the RP. No food items in room - paying for parking !!!!:(
If I tell DH that he will tell me to cancel and book a villa.:(

I dont know how that started, but you are allowed to take food to your room at the RPR. It is even sold at both gift shops (Toko Gifts in the lobby, and Treasures of Bali on the ground floor). And daily I see people take coolers to their rooms...I believe the issue is actually people who are trying to bring small ovens to their room and cooking meals. This creates a safety concern, and is therefor not allowed. But coolers and food are no problem.

RPR has pastries and such available every morning at the Orchid Court Lounge in the lobby.
