My family and I decided our next trip to WDW will be for Mardi Gras 2005 (for those not from Louisiana, it's the first week of February in 2005) and we would like to bring a slew of people with us.

One question, I know that "Technically", it will sleep 12 people plus an infant, but do you think we could fit a few more kids in the place. We have several people that are considering coming along.

Thanks

OKW Grand Villas are huge and beautiful. When I purchased my DVC membership my guide at that time told me that I could sleep as many people as I cared to in any of the accomodations. He was clear in saying that "they" wouldn't provide anything to assist sleeping over the limit . No extra bedding, no towels, no daybeds, rollaways or cots. He said it was up to me to work out the extra people.

I've gone on to learn that this isn't really the case. The DVC accomodations are limited as to how many people should be in each one. There are fire codes that regulate the number of people who can legally be in any given accomodation. I've even heard that DVC resort security has asked people to leave who had more in the unit than they should. (But they were being beyond rowdy and many, many complaints were made to the front desk in a short period of time).

So, I don't know what to tell you. How many beyond the twelve did you have in mind? How old are the children? There is an allowance for extra children (there is one portable crib) if they are quite young.

I did gift a stay at OKW to a family member who went on to exceed the capacity. I was pretty unimpressed when I found out, but nothing untoward came of it. I'm MUCH more careful now when I explain the responsibilites of guests staying on my points at a DVC resort! :)

Thanks Tink,

The possibility is that there may be 3 children extra coming with us, ages 4,6, and 9. So I was just curious how much floor space would be possible for that. I wasn't thinking about extra bedding for DVC to bring to us, but bringing maybe an air bed to accomodate. We'd like to invite this family, but we want to be sure that there will be enough room

Thanks again for the info.

You will surely have enough floor space for three little ones. The air mattresses would be a good idea and don't forget the extra pillows and sleeping bags, and towels! :)
