Weddings at WDW

I am getting married at WDW on 9/23/03. i would like to know if anyone else has been married there and if it is as wonderful as I imagine it to be. I have only been to WDW once and it is such a happy place that I can think of no other place I would rather get married. I am having a very small Intimate Wedding and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on where to have dinner after the wedding. I was thinking of "The House of Blues" in Downtown Disney. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Hi Karen! And *congratulations* !!!!!!!!

You'll be glad to know, it's every bit as magical as you imagine.

We had a disney intimate wedding.... and several times along the way we worried about how much we were spending on the wedding but I'm SO glad that we went ahead :)

I'd be happy to bore you with all the details ;-) but I'm sure your disney co-ordinator has given you all the options.

We got married at the wedding pavilion on sat 14th december 2002. The limo came to pick me up.. wonderful guy, he took photos for us and everything.... then as I waited in the pavilion, it went back to get Helen.

I can't really describe the feelings I had standing with my bride to be at the alter with cinderella castle outside the window across the lake.

We had a reception at the grand floridian and photos taken by Disney. Just two days later we got our wedding albums and photographs!

Everything worked out wonderfully and we got some lovely presents from Disney that we'll always remember (one was a lovely box with two special fairytale wedding watches.. his and hers).

Our wedding certificate is beautiful and signed by mickey and minney :) we have it framed.

EVERYONE we met said congratulations and the photos of Helen on the sweeping staircase at the GF in her wedding dress are stunning.

After the reception, we had some limo time left and the limo driver took us on a tour round disney and then through the Disney town "celebration". It was evening, dark but celebration was all covered in christmas decorations and as we got out of the limo on the main street, people were clapping and they had snow machines which made it snow on the street as we walked down.

I can't type this without smiling and feeling all nice inside :) It was THAT special.

A couple of days later, a disney car collected us from our hotel early morning and took us to open the Magic Kingdom. As we got there, the driver phoned central operations and said " they're here, light the castle please" and as we drove up the centre of main street with the park to ourselves, all the lights came on the castle and the carousel etc.

Then we had photos by the castle, in the castle, up on the balcony etc.

It was just totally magical. It's an extra option but I really recommend it. How else could you have the whole park to yourself, in wedding attire and photos that really will be so special.

oh, for a meal, we splashed out and went to victoria and albert in the GF. This is just the best restaurant I've ever been to and so very romantic. Helen wanted to keep on her wedding dress and it's one of those places where we didn't feel out of place being that dressed up :)

You'll be absolutely made up I'm completely sure of that.... as a bit of a cynic these days ;-) I'm delighted to say that my wedding was perfect in the perfect place.

Thank you for answering my question. I have only been to Disney World once, but I just love Mickey Mouse. You should see my home. He is all over the place. I am probably a little older then you, and the birthday that I don't want to have is the day that we check in. I have been planning to go back to WDW for this birthday and I figure we might as well get married at the happiest place on the earth. I am a little concerned about spending the money but this is what I want and I will never get married again, so why not? I can't wait. You sound like you love Disney World, too! We are getting married on the beach at Polynesian Resort. Again, thank you for replying. I will be in touch with more questions, I am sure.

I also would love to get married at Disney. My problem is more the family though.

My parents would want to be a part of it but they have no money and you just can not go to Disney from the UK cheaply can you.

Maybe I could check out Disney Paris as an option. May come second best.

We've been engaged for 4 years, part of the reason we havent planned the wedding is a 'normal' day just doesnt appeal to me. Hate the idea of all the tradition and formal stuff.

Either that or just be selfish and we go on our own, but thats not right is it.

Oh why does life have to be so complicated !!!:cry:

If you get the choice go for Jimmy Johnston to do the ceremony - he was great.

We were lucky enough to have Lynne McCormick as our Disney Wedding Co-Ordinator - she was absolutely great, helped out with the photos and everything.

Also, if its hot (it was insanely hot the day we did it!) go for the shade! You tend to get a nice breeze across the water that will cool you down too. Talking of the breeze, if you plan to video the wedding yourself as we did, then get a microphone attachment - the wind will absolutely destroy any audio that the camera mic will pick up.

Afterwards our Limo driver, Keith, was good enough to drive us around various locations for photos.

The only bad point on the whole day was our meal at The California Grill - extremely bad service, mediocre food and I'll not be going back there in a hurry.

You did well!!! Lynne is apparently the very best they have there.... I went through three "not Lynns" :( and not one of them was overly helpful in any way. Considering I was arranging it all from the UK, I was pretty shocked and complained but got a little tired of hearing "we're sorry if you FEEL we're not doing a good job" <chuckle>

California grill can be like that sometimes I admit :( shame it happened on a special occasion but glad everything else went smoothly!!

Our wedding coordinator is Lynn McCitrick. I have sent her all of the info we needed to fill out and I have not heard from her. I hope everything is being planned. We have Rev. Jack Day for the ceremony. Lynne suggested him and he seems like a very nice man. I cannot wait to get to Disney World. I have the whole week planned. We are having dinner at The restaurant Port Orleans Resort where we are staying.
