Hi, my family and I are going to be at Universal (and Disney!!) in mid October and I read that they have Halloween Horror Nights. My daughter is 8 and I was wondering if it is very scary for young children there. Is it throughout the park or just in a certain section that we can avoid. Thanks for you help!

Typically it is throughout the park and is generally considered pretty intense. All children differ, of course, but I'd not take an eight year old. Heck, I've known adults that were absolutely terrified by the some of the events.

When do these events get started? Is there scary stuff everywhere or do you have to enter a halloween attraction? I want to go with my kids around that time too (3&6) but I won't go if we are going to see headless creatures walking around or something like that.

Oh No!!! That stinks! I already have my condo booked and my tickets bought. My children and I went to Universal once before and they loved it! But my daughter does not like scary stuff. (Disney scary she can handle) I don't know what to do. I think I picked a wrong time to go, but it's my children's birthdays and this is there present. Ughhhhhhhhhh!!!!

hardrockmom.......Universal Halloween night are a seperate ticket event (well was last time i was there).......so when the park shuts at 7 off you go and if your are staying for the horror night you wait an hour in an area while they do the changes for the park.......so you and your dauhgter can enjoy universal during the day and leave the scary stuff to the brave people :D :D

Thank you! Thank you Redkop! I just got off the phone with Universal Studio's customer service and they told me the same thing. They said that it's a seperate ticket and only happens at night. Whew!!! I was really nervous for a while there!! The lady also said that it only happens on the weekends, and the last week in October.

Another thing about Halloween Horror, I was talking to someone who worked there, and they said that the fastpass system was not working, and 2 hours was the average wait for Duelling Dragons, etc. Not an ideal way to spend a night at the parks!

And the "horror" is throughout the park, not just isolated in an area that you can avoid. One year, they had employees jumping out at visitors with chain saws. Now, they weren't "real" but they certainly scared the daylights out of many.

OKWTink, did this happen during the day?? As I said in my previous post, I called Universal Studios customer service and they assured me this does not happen during the day, only at night and you must have a special ticket for it. I really hope that is the case! With all the people that visit there in October, I'm sure lot's are families with young children.

We were there in October, and didn't see anything to do with Halloween Horror during the day, except a couple of billboards advertising it.

No, no. It is as redkop says, you need a special ticket and it is an evening event.

We have visited US the last 3 years in Oct. We have attended the Horror nights each year and I do not think you will enjoy this with your child. First it was very crowded and I mean crowded. It had adult themes. You have to purchase a ticket to enter the nights they have Horror nights and it's about 26 dollars a person. Last year was really the pits just because of the rowdy crowds and we will not attend again. They have torture scenes and whips and stuff so it's not your family stuff { I hope so}. Disneys MNSHP is great but also crowded on halloween night.I have been told Busch Gardens has scary nights for half the price and is family fun and is not that crowded. I'm no prude or what ever but Universal will not get my money for Horror nights,Disney and Busch will.

mcduck, I do not want to take my children to that....I was asking how to avoid it! I like the tame stuff (well...not totally tame, just don't want my children scared out of their wits) Thank you everyone, for your help!
