Hi, hope you can help with my dilema, we booked our holiday last September through Virgin Holidays (in the UK) to stay at the Sheraton Vistana Village on Internationat Drive (near to Sea World), I am due to pay for this holiday tomorrow and am beginning to have second thoughts about the accomodation after reading all sorts of comments on the different sites. Some rate it some definately do not. We thought we would be getting a good quality accomodation as it was only afew years old and the brochures and web site give it an excellent write up. I always seem to panic at the last minute, and was wondering can anyone give me some info if they have stayed here.
I have been informed the housekeeping is awful, the beds don`t get changed, the sofa beds never get their bedding changed, the towels need a lot to be desired and the reception staff really don`t care. Also if you don`t own a timeshare then you are not given as good a standard of accomodation.
Help please...
Thanks

HI Katies Mum,
On our first visit to Florida as a family group in 1997 we stayed at Vistana Lake Buena Vista and it was excellent my 10 year old still talks about the place an wishes that we could stay there again. I know it is a few years ago now, but the accomodation was excellent, staff were very friendly, loads of pools & recreation for children also they had transfer bus service to Disney if you wanted. There were 4 adults and 1 child in the group, the grounds were beautiful and you would hardly realise that you were in the middle of such a busy area as it was quiet and very safe.
I would be very surprised if things had changed that greatly since our visit and our stay in Vistana was enjoyable and very memorable - ideal spot for a self catering holiday.
Enjoy the trip.

Hi, Alan and Jills mum, thanks for your reply, however, I think you stayed at the other Vistana Resort. There are 2, one is near LBV and the other is South International Drive very close to Sea World this is the one we are going to, I think its only got 1 large pool. I`m sure it will be OK just me being totally paranoid. Three hundred odd rooms, one bad comment and I think it will be a total disaster.

:ears: Katie's Mum,
Listen you will have a great time I am sure, you can't satisfy all the people all the time and the standard of accomodation in Florida is just so much better than Europe anyway and also much bigger. I would be very interested to hear how the trip went when you return.
Alan & Jill's Mum - (off to Florida 15th October and spending one of the weeks in WL Disney first time staying on site......)

Hope you have a brilliant holiday babybelle, we are not going until August. Did you book through Virgin, or is it a do it yourself holiday? Can`t wait to hear all about it, not just the hotel absolutely everything.. We are starting to get very excited now as we had to pay for it yesterday... its getting nearer.
I look forward to hearing from you on your return. Once again have a fantastic time.

We booked thro' Virgin and fly out on 21st June. We are also getting married whilst there and, like yourself, have children.
Feel free to ask any questions about VV or Virgin when I come back.

Katie's mum,
There's absolutely no reason to worry about the Vistana. We stayed there in July 2002 (2 adults, 4 children). Beautiful, classy reception, Large apartment size rooms. We stayed at a two bedroom villa which had a full kitchen (dishwasher, oven, fridge freezer, and a jacuzzi in the master bedroom.Television in each room. Beautiful decor, balcony, two ensuite bathrooms...
Unhelpful staff? Fortunately we did not test this as we had no problems regarding our room.
I think you'll love it!:hearts:

Hi
just back from 2 weeks at the Vistana Villages and all I can say is 'WOW'. The staff were very helful and friendly - nice touches by housekeeping with fancy towel folding and putting Tigger & Sponge Bob toys in different places.
We were thrilled with this accomodation and will probably never go anywhere else.
The girl who came to do my hair & make up for my wedding was astounded and said she hadn't seen anything like this anywhere, the Virgin wedding co-ordinator at the Wyndham Palace said that the VV was probably the best offsite hotel and that probably only the Grand Floridian would match it but even then you would not have the same amount of space (1008 sq ft in 2 bedroomed villa).
You have absolutely nothing to worry about - we hope to book for next year soon.

Great resort, you have nothing to worry about. We came back 3 weeks ago and a wonderful time. We booked through www.HotelmartUSA.com and got a great deal ( every 5th night Free). We are thinking about booking a week again in October.

OMG, I was reading over some of my old posts (as I have not visited for a long time) and now I wish I had paid a bit extra for Vistana Villages (over Grosvenor Resort) - this old post has reminded me just how good they were!
