...but how long is your membership for? Is it for a set time (40 years rings a bell) and if we bought next year for example, would our membership run out 2044? OR, does EVERYONES membership run out the same year...so if you bought 10 years ago your membership runs out when???? I dont remember this bit from the presentation and Im now wondering. Can someone put me straight?

Thanks.
Allie.

It is a set period of time, and they all run out together, last I knew. I just can't remember the number of years, but 40 does sound right, now. I don't know how this will change for the new (yet to be built) DVCs. Sooner or later, they are going to have to change the expiration date if they continue to build and expect to sell!

Thanks Tink. Hmmmm, that might be the end of our DVC plans then. DH was looking for a "catch" and I think he will see this as a big one. Im surprised membership isnt a set period (40 years, 50 years...whatever) regardless when you join. Given that the DVC is over 10 years old now, they MUST need to rethink this soon???

Thanks again.
Allie.

Yes, 2042 is the expiration for all DVC as of now.

I do think I read that memberships for the new DVC property, Saratoga Springs, will expire somewhat later--sometime in the 2050's.

But everyone is right. DVC is a lease that expires in 2042. As the years go by, you are buying fewer years of recreation.

Yup, it's the loophole your husband is looking for.

When we joined in1992 we were told that 2042 was when Disney`s lease on their property expired, hence all DVC leases must expire at the same time.
Can anyone honestly believe that the government of the state of Florida will kick Disney out when 2042 arrives?
No doubt when 2042 is here then all DVC agreements will be re- negotiated.

the interest is tax deductible and some of the annual dues are deductible. I figure in the year 2042 my kids will be over 40...I will be in my 70's...with right of first refusal of the new offering...we were cool with that.
