Hiya Emily82
Back in 1998, we did a helicopter ride from International Drive, there were about 5 or 6 different routes you could chose from all going up in price. Ours lasted about 10 minutes and I think we paid around $30 each. It was worth every penny.
We flew over IOA when it was being built and the full length of I Drive.
Here's the site:

Ooh! Thanks very much WendyHG! :D
My boyfriend especially wants to do it - we remember walking past a place on Int Drive doing helicopter rides last time (must be the one you used), but we didn't do one. I've just spent the last half hour trying to find their website without luck so that's really helpful. Not too expensive either!

It is absolutely brilliant and we are hoping to do this again in September depending on what time we have spare.
Happy flying......:bounce:

Hi Emily,
We did the full helicopter trip with this company in 2001 and it was fantastic.
We flew over Disney,Universal,Seaworld and up and doen I-Drive.
I still have the price list if you want to know anything specific.
We thought it was well worth it and videoed it all so we will never forget it.

Whoops just looked at the website.Forgot the price list was on there.
We did tour 7 and the price hasn't gone up in 2 years.
Have fun.

TERESA - Had a look at the website too, Tour 7 sounds great, I like the idea of flying over Disney :)
Definitely going to do this I have decided! Never been in a helicopter so it will be a new experience!

Emily,
Disney have got a court injunction post 9-11 banning anyone flying over their properties.
I believe this is still in force.

We go in the 26th September and return on 10th October so we cross over.
Where are you staying?

The last I heard, there was a 'No-Fly Zone' over WDW to guard against the risk of terrorist attacks, so the Disney trip may not be possible.
I would think the Helicopter website would has been updated with this information but so far there is nothing on there saying the WDW tours are off.
I'll keep chaching!

I think the local helicopter services and small aircraft have determined just how closely they can fly to Disney airspace. I've seen any number of small aircraft flying in what looks to be airspace "over" WDW. I'm GUESSING that they are within the no fly zone boundaries, which seem to still afford an aerial view of WDW.
Don't know how much you'd see, but they sure seem to be flying "over" EPCOT.

Staying at the Quality Inn International. We stayed there before a couple of years ago and thought is was pretty good for what you pay! Not in the hotel much anyway, need the extra money for everything we are going to do! We were going to go for Wyndham Orlando but decided to be budget conscious!

To give you an idea of how frequently that site gets updated, we were planning a flight with them from Daytona Beach Pier about 18 months ago.
When we got there we were told that they had not operated from there for over two years.
The site STILL claims that they fly from there.
So RAY don't they fly from I-drive at all now then?

We have stayed @ the QI International and like you said it's ok for the time you spend in it.
The wyndham is absolutely beautiful, the grounds of the hotel are great, there are streams running thru it with ducks in them.

Thanks for the info. I have just emailed Air Florida Helicopters to see what they say about the Disney tours they are advertising. Following on from what Ray's said let's hope they're more efficient at answering their emails than keeping their website up to date!
Let you all know if I get a reply.

It does sound lovely. I have been booked into this hotel twice and it's been cancelled both times :( The first time was completely unavoidable as we were booked to go in Sep 2001, due to the tragic events of that month we had to cancel. Then we were booked to stay there again this September, but my boyfriend lost his job so we had to cancel the whole trip, then he got another and we rebooked but at QII. Not that I mind, at least i'm going back to Orlando! Don't care if I have to sleep in a sleeping bag on I Drive!

Me, my dad and DD (then aged 3) did an helicopter flight last year. It was fantastic except for my little one falling asleep half way through. I also did an hot air balloon trip with Orange Blossom Ballons and I can highly recommend this.

I got a reply from them (finally) today:
"Hi Emily,
We are still flying the Disney tour. We cannot fly
directly over Disney but we can fly around them.
Sincerely,
Michael"
So what OKWTink said is right, they fly near but not over.
:) :D :)

Yeah, it's right
I might go for the IOA/Universal and Seaworld tour instead then. I don't see the point of flying around something and not seeing it properley!!
