Islands of adventure looks supercool but from the write up it seems there is not much to do for the little ones - is this right

He is well into Dr seuss - but it seems there is not enough at Seuss Landings to occupy him all day and the geight restrictions will count him out of most of the big name rides

Any thoughts?

When I took my son when he was three, he had a terrible time. I cannot recommend it for someone with a child that small. Sure the Suess Island is great for children, but that is about it. I might wait a couple of years before you visit it before you go to IoA, that is my opinion.

And on the other hand... Well every kid is different, but my 5, 3 and 2 year olds all loved IoA. They are also very into Dr Suess, and that was the only reason we really went to universal/IoA at all, as we made the whole trip geared to them.
For IoA we made sure we got there at opening time and they all had a couple of turns on each of the rides. they then spent more time than we would have liked in the water play area, before we looked aroung the rest of the site. I wouldn't say that they were that interested in the other parts, but they loved the Dr Suess section and would have stayed all day if we had let them.
In Universal they loved the whole smaller children's section and meeting all the characters, who were in plentiful supply at the end of April.

In some ways it was a more relaxing day than any of the WDW parks and was worth it for that alone, but I have strange kids who are constantly asking what we are doing next, and a day off hanging round the pool was not really an option for them. Therefore it made more sense to have slow days. If you think there might be enough for him at Universal it might be worth getting a two park-two day ticket and hopping back to universal for a follow up visit of his favourite bits after you finish with Dr Suess.

I have to agree with Goofy Guy, I'm afraid!:(
After doing Suess 'to death' the only things left for my 22mth & 5yr old to do was wait....and wait.......and wait for their older brother to do the bigger rides.

IMO, IOA is better for teens upwards!! I wont be going again in a hurry!! :(

This is a question I often wondered about. I have a 2 and an almost 5 yr old. I am itching to let them see Dr. Suess rides/etc. I believe there is something of curious george who they love also. Is it worth the money to take them just to see these attractions? Also isn't there any family attractions?
Thanks Bambi:wave:

I have just asked my little girl who is four her opinion and she said that IOA was brilliant. She first went when she was one and has been back every year since. She loved the Cat in the Hat ride but her favourite was the Flying Unicorn which she first rode when she was three.:hearts: :flower:

I too thought that it was a lot of money to spend for one section of the park. Although I am going out of my mind waiting to ride Spiderman I decided to wait a few more years so that DS will be able to appreciate more of the park.

Remember if your childs only three dont pay for the child as its over 3 for a child ticket so u have nothing to lose price wise as for keeeping the child entertained I've yet to meet a child who can be kept entertained all day:p USO also has plenty for younger kids to see and do and at IOA u also have toom lagoon great themeing and a big ship to play on:ears:

Sorry for the stupid question but what is the difference between IOA and Universal? Are they two different parks. I am really confused:confused:

They are two diffrent parks with USO being more movie themed and more shows in this park and IOA is themed into diifrent islands with the rides being more thrill seeking both parks are about 5 min walk from each other very easy to see best of both parks if u r ltd for time u can hop from park to park IOA is normally open later than USO :ears:

Thanks highlander for clearing that up for me. So that must mean paying for two seperate park tickets then.

Well thanks for the comments guys but still pretty confused

I think as he wont be 42 inches it would probably be too much for him to see the rides he can't go on - so I'm sure we'll wait till he's older

My DD was 3 when we first went to IoA and she LOVED it!! We did the character lunch and she still talks about Cat in The Hat jumping in a wheelchair and riding it round the restaurant! She saw Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Beetle Bailey and tons of other characters like Betty Boop, Popeye and Olive. She loves the rides in Seuss landing, especially one fish, two fish...and the Cat in the Hat 'settee ride' as she calls it.

I would definitely recommend 'A day in the park with Barney' for little ones in USO.

IMO 'Spiderman' is one of the best rides and it would be a shame for you to miss it when you can do a 'baby swap'.
