yoohoo,
has anyone tried the whale swim at Seaworld yet, or how about the 'Marine Mammal Keeper Adventue' Earlier this year I had the great experience of a dolphin swim at DC. I am now (I know it's too early but I am an excitable soul) planning our trip for next year and would love to try one of the above. Would love any feedback from those who have experienced such delights.

I hope you all realise I am sitting by my computer waiting for replies, lol - how sad is that!!!!!!!!!!!

That *is* sad, so here's a reply. :D

Hey, you could be planning a wedding... ;)

I think Joanne's going on it in a couple of weeks, so I'm sure she'll have boatloads to add. I didn't konw you could swim with a whale - that's neat!! :D

i dont think you can swim with the whales.........the only swim program at sea world is at Discovery Cove with the dolphins.........the last time someone tried to swim with shamu they died..........of course he hid in the park and jumped in unsupervised

they definately do a whale swim adventure - but with false killer whales. I think it started earlier this year.
Even I am not daft enough to jump in at the deep end with Shamu - although I dare say he wouldn't harm me much.
I am talking about the adults who sit at the side of the pool and get to rub the whales etc - that was happening at the beginning of the year when we were at SW

Whale Swim Adventure
For the first time, SeaWorld guests will be able to come face-to-face with massive false killer whales in the new "Whale Swim Adventure" This launch marks the first and only false killer whale interaction program in North America. False killer whales are a unique dolphin species closely related to killer whales, the icon of SeaWorld.

The intimate false killer whale experience offers guests the unforgettable opportunity to interact one-on-one with these unique animals - and even conduct animal training sessions alongside SeaWorld trainers.

Just four guests at a time suit up in SeaWorld wetsuits for the two-hour program, where they will learn about the physiology and training of false killer whales before getting in the water with the amazing, 13-foot-long animals.

The program includes lunch at SeaWorld's Mango Joe's Cafe, a t-shirt. Park admission is not included, and is required.

Available Friday-Monday.
Call 407-370-1382 to purchase.

hehehee, that was funny!

Isafari - it sounds like a cool program. Are you going to check it out, 'cuz it certainly sounds like we need a first hand report. :D

(and that's it, 'soul in distress' did come to mind :hehe: )

Can't decide on the whale swim or keeper for the day - hopefully I will get some feedback on people who have actually done these things before I make up my mind which one to do. Mind you, hubby says he is willing to get in water with whales but I think he is just saying that because he doesn't want to look too wimpy if I do it!!!!!

I went to Florida in September and was lucky enough to do the 'Marine Mammal Keeper' experience at SW while there.
I must say, it was probably the highlight of my trip but there again I just love animals!;)

You get to go behind the scenes at SW so you see animals which aren't on exhibit. You do get up close with them but always under instruction from one of the keepers. You also do some of your activities actually in the exhibits, some in full view of the public!

I don't want to go into details because I don't want to spoil it for you, but this is a must for the animal lover.
And let's face it, when are you ever gonna get the chance to do something like this back home!
