DH and I went to Discovery Cove earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed our dolphin swim experience. However - I have just been reading some reports about Discovery Cove on another site and how a family were dissapointed with the length of time they actually got with the dolphins. I must admit it was pretty short - but thrilling.
Anyway, this family had been to a place called Dolphin Cove sancturay at Key Largo where they got a lot more time in the water with the dolphins.
Has anyone else been there - would love to hear your views on it and also find out exactly where it is.

Havn't been there yet,, but next week we are heading to the Keys, and that's one of the places I was hoping to visit. Will report back if we make it to it. :) Apparently there are a couple different Dolphin research places down that way. Will see what I can find out.

Hi Isafari,
Sorry but I missed your post when it first hit the boards.

We were in the Keys last year and visited the dolphin research centre.
We were staying halfway along the Keys at a place called Marathon and from memory, the location was around a 20 minute drive away heading towards Key Largo.
You can`t really miss it as there is only one main road which runs all along the Keys from Key Largo to Key West.

Although we did not swim with the dolphins, we watched other people doing so and they seemed to be having a great time.
One of the trainers told the swimmers [one at a time] to perform an action [e.g.waving an arm or squirting a mouthful of water onto the dolphin], and the dolphins copied everything.

It was entertaining for us "non swimmers" but the experience shared by the participents must have been truly memorable.
