Has anyone been to the Titanic Exhibition on Int. Drive? We are considering taking our two boys aged 9 and 13 and would like anyones input on whether it is suitable or interesting enough to take a break from the roller coasters.

Windbag,
I would definitely take time out to do this exhibition! It is fascinating, thought provoking and believe it or not, amusing! (guides play the role of passengers and crew!) I did it with my 11 year old daughter and she was captivated from the word go. I'll not give anything away as I wouldn't want to ruin it for you! I would say your boys are at the perfect age to enjoy and understand an exhibition as well done as this one.
One tiny hint - keep your tickets with you. The name on each one was a passenger or crew member. Very very spine tingling when you find out if you lived or died!
If you do decide to go, please let me know what you thought!

LOL then why didn't you call me back?? I was driving that horrible, boring drive from Charlottesville.
The Titanic exhibit was WONDERFUL. Each tour is led by someone from that period. We had a skullery maid complete with an Irish accent leading our tour. I won't give away all the details. But it is very in-depth. It made me SOB on several occasions. I left feeling emotionally depleted. My DH, who I didn't think would like it, enjoyed it very much.

We just got back from Orlando with Virgin and due to them reopening the Virgin Valet Check In at Downtown Disney, we decided to do the Titanic Exhibition on our last day. I have to say it was absolutely brilliant, our guides were fantastic but we did have the family from hell on our tour with a mother who kept kicking her noisy kids  Apart from that, I wish we had longer to look around, we could only stay for an hour and a half as we had to head for the airport. I could have stayed there all day!
I think it is a must do, it cost us around $36 for 2 adults and after the tour is over, they encourage you to go back along the tour and see everything that you missed on the way through, which is really good of them.
Hope you have fun :D

I also enjoyed it very much. The bit where you touch the "iceberg" is good, I couldn't believe how cold it was. Definitely go!

This wasn't far from where we stayed on I.Drive earlier this year - I was totally not interested in going! Now that I have read everyone's reports on it - it is a 'must do' for next year. :)

Hi:wave:
Yep its great!!! i went not really knowing what to expect, but it seriously was brilliant.
We did one of the later tours, I think it was the second last one, and we had LOADS of time to browse about....they take you on a guided tour, and then let you wander about on your own...
It really is quite spine chilling....
We had a terribly flambouyant guy on our tour (not the tour guide!) who had dyed hair, and wore a cravat and a straw hat on at a jaunty angle. (he was in his 50s) He was there with his friend....Mr Jaunty Angle was obviously a Titanic enthusiast and kept asking the tour guide questions in this kinda nasally falsetto voice  He kept trying to catch her out, interrupting her and asking obscure questions. She valiantly answered them all without strangling him....!!
In the end he turned out to know LOADS about the films and the real thing, but he was just a LITTLE too annoying....no one likes a smart alec!
I also overheard him saying he'd love to visit Edinburg in Scatland...I presume he meant Edinburgh...ha ha

Well, im back and I did the Titanic Exhibit - it was fantastic!! Well worth a visit. It didnt open until 10am (we got there at 8.20!!! thanks to I-ride trolley) but it was sooooo interesting. Our guide was one of the deck workers and he died on board. One man in our group was a know-it-all but the guide soon tripped him up with quips and comments to tease him into silence (thank god). It was a strange feeling walking round the exhibits hearing our guide talk - I felt quite weepy at times
I would recommend this to anyone. The tour lasts for one hour but you can then walk around for a bit and take piccies in each room. The real deck-chair was awesome.

Does anyone know if this is similar to the Titanic exhibit that was at the Science Museum in London this past Summer? We went to that one, and I think there are some similar things, such as being given a boarding pass as you enter, which has the name of a passenger on it, which you discover later if they survived or not.
