We were thinking of going to a water park during these dates and were wondering these 3 questions.
Will it be too crowded towards the end of our trip?
Will it be too cold and un-enjoyable?
Which one should we go to? Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Which one to you think is better and could you explain?
We have never been to a disney waterpark and are wondering also what should we bring what should we expect? Hoping you guys can help us out a little bit!!!!!
We would prefer not going on the 10th or the 18th because those are the first and last days and we want to do more special things during that time.
Thankyou for your help in advance:PIXIE:

Where are you from? that could make a huge difference in whether you'll think it is too cold or not (although remember that the water is heated). Being a Flordian myself, I cannot fathem going to a water park in December.
Also, only one is open during that timeframe. I'm not sure which one it is.

Actually they are both open during the time frame I have already checked. But one is open half the time and the other is open half the time. We are from Florida, just moved this year so I dont know... We haven't expirienced a Texas Winter.
We really want to go, we will see what everyone else says.
I have a few more questions.. What all is there to do, I have heard of surfing and snorkeling at Typhoon Lagoon , does that cost extra. We have absolutely no idea.
Thankyou

Surfing at TL costs extra but I *HIGHLY* recommend it. Snorkeling does not (at least the straight line across the shark reef did not when we went - not that we could get in as DD thought I was feeding her to the critters there... )
We prefer the theming and music at Typhoon Lagoon. It's very tropical in nature. We had loads of fun on the family tube ride, too.
We went to Blizzard Beach last January, and all the lifeguards were dressed head to two in fleece. We weren't. Yes, it was cold...

I guess I'm too Floridian to even think about going swimming in December (or November or January or February or even March for that matter) :)
And to *think* I grew up in New England

When you're desparate, you're desparate... I swim in the Atlantic three months of the year at temps around 55 or 60 degrees. 75 degree waters is nirvana to me. :D

Not sure if this thread should be here or under Parks but here goes:
I do believe Blizzard Beach will be closed during our visit. But I also thought I heard Typhoon Lagoon would be closed too. When I went to the wdw web site it showed BB closed all of Nov. & Dec too I believe but showed TL open. Does anyone know otherwise? My dh & dd are dying to go back to BB. Has anyone been to TL & BB? If so how does TL stand up to BB? Is it fun? Any areas that would entertain a pretty daring 5 year old?
Thanks!

I don't think they close them both at the same time. BB was closed when we were there in Feb, but TL was open. We spent a wonderful day there. The kids were afraid to go on the 'big' rides but enjoyed the kiddies area and the 'lazy river' (I can't remember the correct name). Our kids were 4 & 6 when we were there.

It would indeed be a rarity for Disney to close both of these parks at the same time.

Glad to know TL is open. They are both so disappointed at BB being closed, they loved it. Don't know if I'll take the 5 year old to TL or not but at least the dh & 10 year old have the option.
Thanks all!

I can see their dissapointment BB is a great water park especially when you can keep refilling the drinks for free.

Park hour for December show that as one waterpark closes the other reopens so they will both have had rehab?(refurb) by spring.

I was at Disney last month and asked one of the Disney Bus drivers about the water parks. They both close for like half the winter for service/renovation. But one of them is ALWAYS open.
