This is a bit of an odd request and I am not sure if you will be able to answer or not but here goes.

When I went seaworld I purchased a dolphin ornament for a friend (who is crazy about dolphins) it apeared to be chiselled out of a block of wood and the dolphins were varnished with a blue colour with pink on their bellies.(they also had similar ones which weren't varnished) It was really nice and I thought it would make a great gift.

I gave it to her on Saturday and when I saw her today I asked if she liked it and she said it was great, then later on today she said her dad found a sign on it saying it was made out of dolphin bone.

It sounds bad but I just can't belive this is true - I wouldn't have thought seaworld would produce such items and even if they did they would have to display it clealy (customs issues). Also my s/o couldn't find any sign on it when he checked to make sure the price was removed.

If anyone knows about this ornament please let me know or if someone has an email for seaworld so I can check with them direct as I am upset about this as I would never knowingly buy something made out of animal bone.

Thanks

Thanks - managed to find an email address for them so will let you know the response.

I just asked them if such an item would be made out of bone and if so why was it not displayed as such and how they actually obtian the bone.

I doubt that would sell such a thing but I want to know for my own piece of mind. If my friend was joking then it's very hurtful as she could tell I was upset by the thought and not to mention it was a gift I spent ages picking out. It was a token present so I couldn't spend to much money on it but I wanted to make sure I din't pick something that looked cheap.

I have a feeling that Sea World will say that none of they products would be made out of animal bone at least then I can show her the email and feel better.

Cheers

Can't believe SeaWorld would sell something made of dolphin bone.
Go to http://www.seaworld.com/seaworld/fla/pi_contact_us.aspx and click on the email link at the bottom of the page.

Just to update seaworld have confirmed that without question it is wood and not bone. Already confirmed what I thought so I just told my friend what seaworld said.

I don't know what made her say it was bone but I least I could back up my thoughts. Next time I go (And there will be a next time, despite this was a once in a lifetime trip I am already on at the s/o to take me back :ears: )I will stick to a present of duty free fags - far less hassle.

Thanks for the help.

To forestall any concerns the term fags is used to mean cigarettes in this context! :)
