Has anyone ever been on the Rhino Rally at BG? I was sure that when we were there, this was a 'ride' that you had to pay extra for - like the Serengeti Safari Tour (which we did) and paid about $30.

hmmmm I remember going on the safari tour that as you say cost extra.
The rally we waited ages to get on, which I THOUGHT was the rhino rally but may not have been I guess ;-), was free.
I may be remembering a different ride. This one was notable because of the boarding procedure where there were different "rows" ... one person was a navigator and so on.
I THINK at one point the car gets stuck in a river and starts to float away...

that's the one - I thought you had to pay for this, so we chose the Serengeti ride between the two:(
Will have to go on it twice when we go back to make up for it:D

ahh right! nope it was free and REALLY good! definitely don't miss it.
The bit where they drive into the river and the jeep starts to get swept away was a great effect!
Actually I really liked busch gardens. Another of the ones I didn't expect to like but loved :) Especially that ice show! absolutely brilliant.

it has??? That's very sad indeed :( it was the first thing we happened to see when we got there and I was really impressed. hmmmm
I think it was last May that we went... blisteringly hot day and every time we walked past an area, there was something special going on! demonstrations, singers, entertainers... I was really surprised.
Getting there was so much cheaper than I thought by getting their coach from premium outlet mall.... and when we were ready to go back, the coach driver had left the air con running for an hour before we were due back to get the coach nice and cool for us.
Had a really nice day there.
(only thing that bugged me was some annoyingly prudish lady who went absolutely barmy when I foolishly picked up a glass of wine at I guess about 11:40am to go with lunch. Something about not being able to serve alcohol till some time after noon? but the look of total disgust on her face..)

Oy, how silly is that? I live in Orange county, but just outside the limits of Orlando in another little "city" that does not allow alcohol sales on Sunday. Cashier acted like I was destined for Hades when I tried to buy a bottle of wine at Publix for a gift! Silliness.
I'm glad you had a nice time at BG, both of you. I am willing to concede I must have been there on a bad day, but it was such a bad experience I'm not going back.
No problem. I've enough to keep me busy around here!

I thought the no alcohol til noon on Sunday rule was statewide? I remember that rule from when I worked at Publix

It is, but here they don't sell alcohol on Sunday at all!

We quite liked the Rhino Rally good fun and as you say, a great effect when the car gets washed away! Our DS (aged 7) was the navigator on the last trip and it made his whole day!!!
We're hoping to go back later this year and go and feed the giraffes this time. I absolutely adore them and would love to get up close and personal. Must remember extra film for the camera!
We've heard quite a few negative reviews about BG, but have always loved going there, I guess too it's great because there's simply no crowds there.
I won't even mention the trip with the mayonnaise though! Ahem!

Yeah, i also really enjoy BGT we gave it a miss last summer but in April we are definately going back down to Tampa, if you like coasters its always worth a visit, for the little ones i would'nt really say they have much to offer, but thats my opinion.

You are going to love the Serengeti safari - they actually stop the vehicle and the giraffes just come wandering over for their leaves. Everyone gets a chance to feed these wonderful animals and if you hold the leaves just to the side of your head, you get the giraffe's face so close - need to nab those eyelashes:)

Ive been to Busch Gardens twice and been disappointed both times.. Rhino Rally was closed the day we was there which was annoying... The only thing i thought was really good was the Gwazi..
Just my opinion.. I cant see me going back tho...

Lol, well, we were sat in the Marrakesh food hall, and DH had gone to fetch some food while I sat with the kids.
I'd fetched all the condiments, napkins etc and was waiting. While sat there, I was was fiddling with a sachet of mayonnaise, squeezing it a bit, when suddenly it exploded, BIG time.
DH arrived back to the kids in stitches 'cos their mummy was covered in mayonnaise, all in my hair, on my face and shirt. Worse still, several other people at other tables had seen the incident and were laughing too.......really don't think I've ever been so embarassed in my life.
So there you have it, and I've not been allowed to either forget it or play with the sachets again......
