DH and I will be returning from the Disney Cruise on the 13th . Our flight does not depart until 5:45 PM . We thought we would go to either Sea World or Universal Studios for the day . My problem is that you can not check your luggage until four hours before the flight departs( it was not like this in May of 2001 , changed after 9-11). Did anyone ever have this problem ? Are there lockers or a secured area to leave your stuff ? I do not want to be stuck in the airport all day ... Other than that , I could ask to be put on stand-by for an earlier flight . Never did that , either . Do you check your luggage and hope or keep your luggage and wait . Thanks as always for any and all information ...

Hi Tinker,

I suggest that you ask at the information desk at the airport. I guess that this is a common issue.

You may be able to store your luggage at the Hyatt Hotel at the airport if you talk sweetly to the nice lady at the check in desk!

No doubt others will be along with a more positive reply to your question.

I wondered about this for our last day. We have to be out of our Villa at 10.30 and out flight does not leave until the evening, so we were hoping to maybe go shopping or somthing if there were lockers etc.

Can you really check in a Downtown Dinsey? I am flying with Virgin.

Yep, it currently costs $5 a person which you can pay when you turn up there. Anytime from 8am to 1.30pm go to Downtown Disney around the west side area and look for the big Virgin portacabin thing. There'll be a big truck there too for loading the bags on. They'll take all your checked bags and issue you with your boarding passes there and then so can go off and do whatever you want for the day and turn up at the airport and go straight through security to your boarding gate.

I seem to think DTD check-in was free from 1st Jan this year. I could be wrong though. $5 each to dump the bags was well worth it to us.

We were all so excited about this check-in revelation - means we can have an extra day in Disney! :bounce:

Hi Yvonnemaxine, :welcome: to the boards!

Yes, you can use DTD check-in. You may still have to pay the $5 though because you're not booked through virgin holidays.

Hi there!

from what I have experienced... you could do either of these:

1. Leave your bags at an airport hotel (there are no lockers in airports, but most hotels do take bags for a fee)

2. Rent a car and take your bags with you to Seaworld or Universal.. Im sure theyll love it... lol

3. Sit on top of them at the airport until you can check them im

4. Take no bags
