I have booked a stay from June 4, 2004 through June 13, 2004 at the Pop Century Resort. I figured we will be there long enough we could rent a car for a day and drive to a beach. Question, which one? Also any assistance on car rental would be great. I have heard you can rent right off Disney property.

I am going with my niece who is 24, son is 17, and daughter is 12. I do not want to drive forever to get to the beach, however I want to ensure we head someplace we can all enjoy. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Sandy

The Gulf is a little over one hour drive west and the Atlantic is about one hour drive east, since the Mouse is right in the middle of the state.
I think the Atlantic is fun, particularly in the summer. Could I suggest the area around Cocoa Beach ?

Another idea, go to the Atlantic early in the morning and drive over to the Gulf in the afternoon:
Leave WDW 7 AM
Drive to Cocoa Beach on Beeline.
Swim in Atlantic 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM.
Have lunch.
Drive across state to Clearwater (via Beeline & I-4) Noon-2:30 PM.
Swim in Gulf 2:30 - 5:00 PM.
Drive back to WDW, arriving about 7:30 PM, about dark and in time for dinner.

I've done this and it's fun.

If you leave early enough you can make it to the Atlantic side in under an hour. Both are nice but if you want to surf and get some nice waves, Id go with the Atlantic side.

You can rent a car from the Disney Car Care Centre (Alamo) or the Dolphin Resort.
