DH and I became DVC members last June and after a bunch of family members, not going, going, then not going we fianlly got it squared away.
I tried last night to book a 1 bedroom villa at Beach Club (our home resort) for May 30 - June 6, 2004. NO LUCK! I also tried for June 6 - June 13, 2004. Also NO LUCK!
They had 1 bedroom's for either of those weeks at all of the other DVC resorts. I am sooooo bummed! I was really looking forward to Stormalong Bay.
So, I booked at the Boardwalk Villas. I really got used to the idea of staying in the Boardwalk area, walking distance to Epcot. So, Boardwalk Villas it is.
We have a preffered view room. Does anyone know what this means? Are there any Epcot view rooms at the Boardwalk? Can anyone suggest which building to stay in? Any other tidbits about the resort would be appreciated. Thanks folks!

Preferred view means that of the canal, lagoon or sometimes overlooking parts of EPCOT. I'm lousy with recommendations for villa numbers as I never remember which one I've had. Just tell them what you want and they'll do their best to comply.
The resort is nice enough, although not my favorite. I has no restaurant within the hotel proper. If you don't eat in your villa, you will be going out elsewhere to dine. And there are plenty of "elsewheres!"
Be prepared for the possibility of a hike. That resort is deceptive and you could be hauling your luggage down hallways that seem to never end.
I don't like the main pool. It reminds me of something out of Stephen King, but the quiet pools are lovely. The walkway to MGM is very nice.
The boardwalk itself is a fun place to be in the evening. There are live acts and much activity. You should have a good time! Enjoy!

Just a suggestion, have you waitlisted with MS for the 1bdrm at BCV's? You can keep your ressie with BWV's and if your name comes up on the waitlist you can just have it switched over to the 1bdrm at BCV's :)
Sorry you weren't able to book it right off -- BCV's is hard to get into if you don't book well in advance (the 11 month window can really come in handy if trying to book during busier crowd times)
Anyway, if you hadn't thought of it, you may want to get on the waitlist -- you may get BCV's after all:thumbs:

OKWTink, there had always been something I did not like about that pool and the clown head, something disturbing about "IT". :afraid:

My kids think that 1 bedroom villa at Bc without any success. I chose a room at BC instead. But I will call tomorrow to put my name on that waiting list.

This is another photo of the pool. Apologies for the pic, it was taken sideways (through the glass!) from the Swan RBC breakfast room. :D

That's a great shot PaulaK and makes the pool look quite nice, actually! :) :thanks:
It is a pretty resort in many ways, I'm just weird when it comes to that gaping mouth clown. :(

Ok Sorcerer Mickey HOW did you get those photos all in one post? I've driven myself nearly around the bend attempting to do that!
Any specific direction you can provide will be most welcome!
Beautiful shots by the way! Thanks for those.

I think that you are talking about the 512000 byte maximum size for an attachment allowed per post.
If that is what you are talking about, I do not attach my images by using "Attach file:" at the bottom of the "Post Reply" page. All my images reside on my domain, disneyguest.com, and I link to them using the "IMG" button. That way they do not use up space on the wdisneyw.com server and I can attach as many images as I want!
Let me know if you need more information, I'll be happy to help you.

Yes, yes, yes. That's it! Stephen King's "It." I knew there was something that pool slide reminded me of!
LilSimba, it is a nice resort. Please don't let our remarks about the pool frighten you! The location is as nice as the Beach Club too. I understand your difficulty getting the BCV though. I booked mine 7 months ahead of time for the first week of May and I couldn't get the first night! We are staying off property for that night now.
Did you try adjusting your days? Can you stay at the BCV for part of your stay? I know moving is a pain-in-the-neck, but if you really want to have access to Stormalong Bay, it may be worth it.

Oh! Thanks for the info Sorcerer Mickey. That is one of those things I'm going to have to learn!
Now, where IS Keith? :D

I agree that the slide in Boardwalk is a little scary , but I am hoping the kids will love it. I have a question too though.
I am looking into booking a trip for dec. (not at my home resort). I am choosing between Boardwalk and Beach Club. Any opinions?
We are looking at getting a 2 bedroom and taking the in-laws.
They both look great and the pools may not matter too much due to weather. We had planned on Boardwalk, but now I am reading such great things about BC that I am torn. I want to call as soon as my 7 month window opens. Thanks.

Ilovetink,
I love the BCV, so I would pick that one :) (though I can't fairly compare BWV and BCV as our first visit to BWV is not until October :bounce: ).
One issue that might come up is that DVC is extremely popular the whole month of December.
During Christmas/New Years break for obvious reasons (all the kids are on holiday).
This always surprises people: during the weeks leading up to Christmas it is popular because the point costs are at their lowest, the Christmas Decorations are up and it is absolutely beautiful and also during the first week of Dec the annual DVC meetings take place.
My advice would be to call day by day to make your reservation. You might even want to book your home resort now(assuming it is one of the WDW DVC's) and then switch over to whichever resort you favor for that time period. If you find the one you want to switch to is fully booked, you can always waitlist, but at least you will have a reservation to cover your visit.

Thanks for the advice. I am surprised that it is so busy in December. We were planning on the second week in December because my ds wants to go for his birthday. However, we are pretty flexible and if I can't get into the resort for December then we can push our trip back into mid-jan/early Feb.. Our home resort is SSR, which we are staying at this June. We just really wanted to try out a different resort as well.:PIXIE:

We went to the Boardwalk last July and my dh was so spooked by the 2 pictures in the room, one was from NH and the other is from ME. We are from NH, he kept saying, we belonged there. So I knew I could push the DVC issue, lol. We did buy and were able to get into the BWV! We go back in April...now for the scary pool.
Ya know it does remind me of something Stephen King...The clown is really scary,...I am not good with remembering names of movies, but I remember when I was a teen...there was a movie that took place pretty much in a Carnival and the clown looked just like the clown at the Boardwalk Pool! He was killing and cutting up everyone ewww! I don't like the clown, but the pool is rather nice!
Some day we will book at the BCV, to try it out.

Kids, if you are reading this, don't be scared by the pool, I actually like it a lot, it has one of the best resort pool slides in Disney. My wife always says I look like a child going down the slide  .

If any people say the clown is scary or a steven king style scare they are definatly not from the NY metro area. In NY at Coney Island which is the waterfront beach area in the borough of Brooklyn there are numerous sites like the clown and as a kid we loved to go there and Laugh at their severe over humerous size & features. Many parks amusements in the future were copied from the likes of the Coney Island and from NJ's Asbury park areas which were carnival/amusement/game of chance/fortune teller/shooting gallery/bumper car fun and exaggerated areas. So the Clown to me is great! it brings back memmories for me, and my kids 9 & 13 love the slide. Coney island is also the starting point of another famous exaggerated saying "Its not over until the fat lady sings" this saying came from a fun house that had a huge exaggerated automated fat lady that when guests would exit would actuly laugh with blasting sound. It is good THAT THEY CHOSE THE CLOWN ! There is also some great models in the lobbyof the BWV of other rides in Coney Island & Asbury as well as carasel horses, its a great place!! It is our home base, and we felt very cold at the BCV it is much warmer & closer to boardwalk fun than the BCV
