i just got a quote from DVC and was not impressed. A 2 bedroom villa for 7 nights a year was quoted at $28,000.

I stay off site with my brood (12 of us) in a 5 bedroom villa for $850. I can spend a lot of $850's before I reach the $28, 000 mark.

Staying on-site just is not worth the money to me.

jeez no i could not justify that, but if you add that up over say 15yrs nope still would'nt be woth it it wouls take 30yrs to get that back, at those prices ill do the same and carry on stayin off site for £400 per wk

cheers jim:)

On the other hand Jimfortk, we have been members since 1992 and this is how we have used our points so far,
1994 - 2 weeks in 2 bed apartment at OKW, 1997 - 2 weeks in a 2 bed apartment at OKW, 1999 - 2 weeks in a grand villa [sleeps 12] at OKW, 2002 - 7 night cruise for 2 people,4 nights at Vero Beach, 9 nights at the GF.
If you add up the $ cost of these vacations you can see that our original investment has easily been re - couped.
Also from 1992 - 2000, if we went to WDW using our points we had unlimited admission to all the parks...shame that this perk is not offered any more.
Admitedly we normally tend to go in September when the points usage is lower than say at Christmas time, but by careful usage of your points it can pay off.

UKWDWNUT it cost me £15000 for a guarenteed 2 weeks anytime of the year but if I go in the lower points usage I could get 2 weeks in Feb and 2 weeks in Sept. This was also when the exchange rate was $1.65 so you would be looking at a lot less.
Take into account the acommadation at the Boardwalk as oposed to off site and your offsite could increase in value over the next 10/20 years.
It all depends on how much you are going to use it but I would consider all the factors involved.

Hope this has not confused you too much.
