I'm assuming June would be better weather and crowd wise, someone said in a previous post the French have the wholemnth of August off but what about June?(we've ruled out July due to flight costs)
Also, I think it's a toss up between Holiday Inn or Travelers Explorer, which one have you been to, which one would you avoid? Do we have to purchase our park tickets ahead of time?
I have only found one character meal at the DLHotel, is this the only one at DLP? What restaurants and shows should I book ahead of time and who do I call to make PS, oh and which restaurants are kid friendly? (I'm thinking of Chef Mickeys at WDW style) I know I'll be in France and not Fl but it's been a long time since I was there and last time our DLP trip was a disaster due to lack of planning! We are family of four, DD-7, DS almost 5. I'm thinking we will stay at DLP for 5 nights.
Thank-you for your Help!..Daisy:sun:

Hi Daisy
When to go - yes June will definitely be better than July or Aug - both busy with the French hols and the Brit kids finishing school mid-july and then the usual last week july/first Aug company closedowns in the UK. If going for 5 days I suggest Mon-Fri avoid the weekends as they can be very busy. Weather should be fine.
Character Breakfasts/Childrens dining - Disneyland Hotel has one which is for its guests. Other hotel guests have to go to a restaurant in the village (on the corner by the lake 'Cafe Mickey'I think from memory). Also available at 'Walts' on Mainstreet in the park - this is a lovely restaurant but was disappointed with CB as it is a bit on the small side so opt for the other one. You can book these on arrival at your hotel - never had a problem booking CB on any of our 6 visits. Character teas also available in the parks - see guide books on arrival. Plaza Gardens restaurant offers a buffet style/set price meal with special childrens counter so they can help themselves. Well worth a visit!! Usual Rainforest Cafe,Planet Hollywood and McDonalds also in Disney Village. Reservations can be made at the restaurants - as in Fl if you eat out of the peak hours they can be quiet - avoid park closing time reservations at all costs!!
Length of stay - 5 days will be plenty to see everything.
Tickets - can be bought at the gates.
Hotels - sorry not stayed at either of your choices so unable to comment - we stay at the Disney hotels.
Child friendly - yes never had a problem anywhere.
I think I have answered them all - if you want to know anything else let us know.
You will have a great time!!

I was checking out prices for character meals (finally found info on DLP site) and wowsa 30euros per adult..Isn't this alot? Thats like 36.00 US I believe. Hard not to compare prices to WDW..hmm
We'd love to stay at Disney Hotel, (checking out Cheyenne) but I cannot get rate for rooom only and packages seem pricey compared to non-Dis room only hotels with bfkst incl. We do not need PH for whole stay, 3-4 days enough. What I do need is a good DLP agent who can help meee.
Living in Caribbean it's $$$ to phone and wait and wait for answers....
Thank-You again..appreciate the advice and assistance!!

June is a perfect time to go. We went the last week in May last year and it was nice and quiet, but warm. We usually go 4 or 5 nights. 4 covers it with plenty of time to spare, the 5th day for me is to shop :D
Friends of our stayed at The Explorers as they are a large family (with live-in Grandma!), they enjoyed it and the pool looks great for kids.
As for tickets, I *would* advise buying them beforehand if possible. The queues in the morning can be horrendous.
We always have a full sit down lunch at DLP, the fast food is not the greatest :hehe: We particularly like Auberge De Cendrillon and The Silver Spur Steakhouse, but both need to be booked as soon as you enter the park or before if you can. There is also a character lunch buffet inside the park at the 'Lucky Nugget Saloon' which has pizza, salad etc for the kids. In the summer when the park stays open later, they also have a character dinner there. Walt's is okay as is the Blue Lagoon (situated inside the POTC ride.)
