I was wondering... I want to book a trip for December or January at either BCV or BWV. Neither is my home resort so I am going to call as soon as my 7 month window opens up. If I call on May 1st for a trip starting 7 months later, can I book my whole 5 days or do I have to call every morning to book each day as the 7 month window for that day opens? Does that question make sense? Thanks. I am just learning the ins and outs of the DVC system.

Logically your question makes sense, it's the type of question that my wife would say "only you would think of something like that  ..." It's nice to know I'm not alone  .

I think you'll be able to book the entire vacation. Just call and tell them your dates first thing in the morning (9:00am EST).

As far as I am aware, the 7 month window applies to the START of your vacation, irrespective of the length of your stay.
Hope that makes sense!

That would be great. I just saw some threads that talked about trying to book your trip one day at a time instead of the whole time and I thought maybe that was why. Thanks

That was probably because the days and accomodations requested were not available, in that case you get on a waiting list and book the days as they open. Good luck on your days  .

If I understand correctly, I think you're able to book 7mos out from your check-out date so you'd be able to book the entire stay as long as it's available. As just posted, it's when not all the days are available that you need to book day by day.

It's a great question. Sometimes the people who make the rules don't think like the people they expect to follow them.

Ilovetink,
Just to clarify, it goes according to your check out date.... If you think about it, it make sense. If folks were allowed to book 7months to their check-in date, they could call and book a 4 week vacation (including Christmas and New Years--if they had the points) on Dec 1st and then adjust the arrival dates later on--essentially defeating the 7 month (or 11 month in the case of the home resort reservations) booking window.
For most reservations, folks wait until their final check out date to make their reservation, but in your case you really need to call "day by day" because the first part of Dec is a very popular time for DVC members and if you waited you could be shut out.
When you call, tell Member Services that you will be calling back each day to add days on and they will keep your reservation open until you tell them your reservation is complete. (Otherwise, you will end up getting several reservation letters--one for each time your call and add on days).
Sometimes, I find that I am off by a day or two (it's that check out date thing that gets confusing), so if it is a really important reservation, I call ahead and ask member services when I should start calling to make my reservation.

Good luck to you!

Thank you. That does clarify it. I need to confirm the exact dates and then I will call to find out exactly when I can make reservations. It is relatively flexible because if we can't get early Dec. then we will go after the new year. We did want to do MVMCP though. :sigh:
