Hi all,

Having always stayed in Orlando thinking of going the Gulf Coast. :sun:

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking to stay in a luxury hotel for the last 3 nights. Want to be, if it's possible within walking distance of bars and restaurants. Thinking of some nice cocktails  Nice white beach.

Also any attractions recommendations.

Clearwater Beach is my favorite place on the Gulf. But, Clearwater is a sleepy town compared to Orlando. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, but the night life is more laid back. As a matter of fact, they close the beach at 10:00 PM.

And be prepared to pay luxury prices. Real estate is prime in Clearwater, and you'll pay top dollar. As a matter of fact, there isn't much that is not considered luxury.

Hey Tidsy

We're off to St Pete's for the 2nd week of our holiday and staying at the Tradewinds Resort, although I somehow wish I'd looked at the Don Cesar before we booked.
Have a look here for some ideas http://www.floridasbeach.com/

I know I alread posted on this but here it goes again. You might also want to try Anna Maria Island. Just south of Tampa and west of Sarasota/Bradenton. Relatively quiet, lots of hotels and restaurants.

We stayed at the Hilton Beach resort in Clearwater, Hotel was nice a bit too big for my liking tho, we enjoyed the boat and fishing trips, nice white beach, although we found a week a bit too long and kept wanting to go back to Orlando!!!

I grew up in Sarasota and North Ft. Myers, so I am fond of the lower Gulf Coast. I think you ought to drive down to Sanibel and Captiva. It's a bit further but not too far. http://www.coconet.com/sanibel-captiva/info.html

So many UK tourists don't see this part of the state, which is certainly the best.

We will be spending 6 days in sanibel in June but I'm not sure if I would do that journey for a 3day visit. :sun:

Hi, We stayed at the Sunspree hotel in Clearwater which was not that luxurious but had a good spot on the beach where there were lovely views of the sunset each evening. We went on a boat trip to look for dolphin which was enjoyable and there was a pirate boat that sounded to be great fun when it passed by.
