My fiance and I will be in LA for a day before leaving for our honeymoon in Tahiti. I am a huge fan of the Disney World Resort, and was thinking that since we are going to have 24 hours in LA, we could use some of that time as an opportunity to see Disneyland. We will be arriving in LA on a Sunday evening, and leaving late Monday evening, so the amount of time we would have in Disneyland is very small. We would probably be able to spare about 8 hours.

My concern is what theme park we should visit. Should we visit Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure? Based on the amount of time we have and all there is to see, what park would you recommend?

Any advice would be helpful. We are leaving in less then 3 weeks :)

If you have never been there I would go with the original DisneyLand park

California Adventure if you are a ride-lover, and the Disneyland Park if "magic" is your theme (I would go with California Adventure!)

Melissa,
If I could only pick one, I would probably pick Disneyland. It's a lot of fun to go on the same rides at WDW and compare them. DL some rides that are not found in the MK. (Some Examples: Star Tours (it's over at MGM at WDW), Honey, I shrunk the audience (is over at EPCOT at WDW), Indiana Jones, Alice in Wonderland, Storybookland, Casey Jr. Trains, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Materhorn.)
I think the size of DL makes it perfect for a little side trip.

Definitely Disneyland! Of course, I'm a wee bit biased!

The original Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, has the Matterhorn (tame by today's standards), which MK at WDW does not. It also has more depth and detail than MK at WDW. And don't forget, Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty's castle (MK at WDW has Cinderella's castle). There used to be a very scary (to a young child, anyway) Snow White walking adventure in the castle. I think it's been gone for some time, but it definitely made an impression on me!

If you decide to visit Disneyland, you'll understand why I was rather disappointed at WDW in 1981 (MK was the only park open, EPCOT was preparing for its grand opening), as well as on my return last August. I suppose I thought they would have improved it!

Of course, if you prefer thrill-type rides to the wonderful theming, you might prefer California Adventure. Although, many people who live there and visit regularly tend to go to Disneyland more often than California Adventure!

Which ever park you choose, it will be a great beginning to your honeymoon!

You could ride Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and then let me know how much fun it was! I really miss that one...

Ok...don't anyone hate me...but I was a bit disappointed with Disneyland. I am not sure if I was just so used to the expansive size and beauty of WDW. But, DL seemed so small - especially the castle!! I did, though, enjoy comparing the rides to each other! And, It's A Small World was really beautiful!!

Of course it's still Disney...so no matter what, you will have a wonderful time! :tigbounce
