Right, mad as we are, we're looking into the possiblity of going to DLP next week! Poorly foot, btw, is getting much better, I can actually get around without the crutches now!

DH has business in Brussels, and casually mentioned that seeing as he's not back at work before he goes away, we might drive down to the Eurotunnel and he'd drop us off at DLP!! Oh my goodness!

OK, we haven't been to DLP in some 8 1/2 years, and even then, it was yet another last minute thing and we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel (oooh, very posh I know!).

So my question(s) are this:-

Where's the best place to stay on a relative budget (on or offsite), I don't drive, and will have two kids (aged 8 and 5) with me.

Is it best to book directly through the DLP website?

Where's the best place to buy tickets? Is there a french alternative to Maple Leaf?

How long should we look to stay? We'll be there midweek.

Arrrgghhh, I'm not used to such short notice!

All help soooooo greatly accepted!

:overhere: I'm here!!! I don't even know my mobile number Chris

Onsite prices for arrival Tuesday next week (13th) 1 adult 2 kids with tickets booking direct:
Standard room Newport Bay 3 nights £693.
Cheyenne and Santa Fe are booked up.
Holiday Inn is £695!!!

Looks like offsite is defo cheaper to do DIY like Chris has. You can buy a 3 day ticket at the window. If you need a price just shout!

Be wary that the tunnel can be up to £300 if you don't return within 4 nights! Easyjet are cheaper than driving usually :)

Go on the Holiday Inn website and sign for their newsletter. The next day they'll send you a discount code for stays before the end of August.
By the way, can I come too? :)

I personally would recommend the Hotel Santa Fe, Ive stayed there many a time when on budget, and despite people whinging about it in the forums, its a decent hotel for a budget, as you arent at the hotel that much anyway, just to eat/sleep.

However for a little extra magic (and about 28 quid more each) you can stay in the Hotel Cheyenne which excells on its theming! Great fer kids!

Right, looked at the Holiday Inn website and got a quote for £288 staying from Monday to the Friday morning! I didn't think it was that bad!

So how much would we be looking at for the tickets? 1 adult and two kids (aged 8 and 5).

Are there any websites that have prices for the Eurotunnel?

Ooooh, lotsa questions!

There is only the official one at www.eurotunnel.com. It may be worth joining points plus for £15 to get 10% discount - details are on the booking pages after you enter you're dates

The maximum pass available at the gate is 3 days £74 adults, £57 for kids. If you want to go into the parks more than 3 days, you would be better getting the Fantasy AP with blackout dates as they won't apply to your stay. By my calculations, providing my info is still correct it will be around €323 for AP's (£220'ish) for 1 adult 2 kids.

Eurotunnel are quoting £203 for this Monday for a 4 night stay if you go over 4 nights it is classed as a 'long stay' holiday and it will be £323! Points plus is £15 to join, but you'll get £20 discount and you will get further discounts for 2 years.

Right, these are the prices I've found, would really appreciate people's responses...

Eurotunnel £197.70 - This includes the 10% points discount
Accomm £288.38 - Staying at Holiday Inn
Tickets £262.00 - DH wants a 3 day ticket too!

Makes a total of £748.08 - so, is that good or bad?

Also, seeing as it's the Easter break, is it going to be absolutely heaving?

I'd like to offer something more positive too but I would never go this time of year - can you not wait a couple of weeks??

You will end up queuing for everything - even to get your entrance tickets. It will really spoil your enjoyment of it. We have found during our peak time visits that the 'Europeans' are very rude and they always queue jump whilst us Brits politely just watch it happen.

My advice is to go in school time if possible but definitely weekdays - avoid the weekend - all the locals will be there.

If you time it right you will have a much more enjoyable time - and will probably get to ride the top rides repeatedly without getting off.

Sorry if it's not what you want to hear - but it is my honest opinion having been to DLP 6 times at various times of the year.

The only reason we're even considering going is because DH has work in Belgium next week, and because there's nothing to do in Brussels for the kids, DLP seemed the next best choice - even though it's 3 hours away from where he'll be working.

Well, it's too late now, I've booked..........

I guess the proof will be next week, I shall let you know how it goes....

Wish me luck????

Hi Sara,

I wouldn't worry too much - yes it will be busy there's no denying the fact but we went over New Year when the park was virtually at capacity and allthough we had to plan better - rope drop, fast passes, ride during the parade etc. we managed OK even with two young DD's. The hustle and bustle somehow added to the Magic.

Have a great trip.

Alec.
