Just wondering here.....

Our DS has a high-functioning autistic spectrum disorder called Asperger's Syndrome, and while he is capable of doing many things quite 'normally', I'm more than a little concerned how he'll react when we go tomorrow to DLP.

I know of people who've had no problems getting Guest Assistance Passes at WDW, and I know the next time we go to Orlando, we will get one for Daniel, as he has always struggled with confined spaces and lots of people queueing together (he can stand it for so long then kind of 'loses it', through no fault of his own).

Has anyone had any experience of trying to get the same pass at DLP? I'm a bit worried that they may not be as sympathetic as their American counterparts.

Any (quick) answers would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Our 8 year old son has many problems including autism and DLP are absolutely wonderful. Go to Guest Services in each park and they will give you a blue card for the length of your stay (we always take our blue badge and letter from specialist but they have never made a point of examining them). You can get a guide book which tells you how to access each ride, which is usually the exit. We have never had to wait more than 5 mins in Disneyland Park.

It is slightly different in the Studios Park as it has been built with disabled/special needs guests in mind. You still get a card at guest services but queue normally. Most of the attractions here are cinema style so although you queue to get in you then have special seating.

In both parks there are special places to view the parades and the characters always make a point of coming over to the children.

I wouldn't worry you will be fine - my concern is the other way - this year is the first time we have taken him to WDW and are hoping the level of assistance is as good as DLP!!

Hope that helps

I would imagine they'd be great at DLP. If it helps I have 3 children with Asperger's Syndrome in my class. One of them went to DLP over Christmas and he hasn't stopped talking about it yet, so I assume he was fine :)
