Thanks Keith - enjoyed the photos.
how uncomfortable it must have been wandering around the parks all day in pencil skirts and high heels!

Awww! I wish I could have lived in the 50's - those clothes are just so cute. I think I was born in the WRONG decade, I'm so old fashioned. It must have been wicked hot dressed like that in California!

Thank you, Keith! Those definitely brought back childhood memories.

Most people didn't dress up to the extent in the photos, although women and girls usuallly wore dresses with flat shoes, and you rarely saw jeans and t-shirts on men and boys! Usually sport shirts and nice slacks. By the time I was in high school, we (females) were wearing slacks and everyone was beginning to wear "dress" jeans (no holes, frayed cuffs, etc.), but you rarely saw shorts on anyone except young children.

The Matterhorn didn't exist when Disneyland first opened, but after it did it became the first thing we would see approaching the Harbor Boulevard exit on the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway! My mother always looked to see if there were any mountain climbers--they were specks, but you could see them if they were there. My father was busy with the traffic, and I just wanted to be there!

My cousin is compiling some very old and fragile family Disneyland 8mm film onto--something. Okay, I'm tech impaired here! Can't remember if it's going to VHS, then DVD or directly onto DVD. Whatever it is, he only has a couple of chances to do it before the film disintegrates. We discovered them as we were going through our parents things and wanted to do something with them.

Now if I could just figure out what to do with all of the photographs of people and places I don't know....? :hehe:

I know my Mom didn't wear a dress when we went to Disneyland for the first time, I was about 6 years old (not saying when that was ) But I remember wearing shorts and a shirt that were starched and ironed! And Mom was dressed really nice. Daddy wore is favorite jeans and buttondown shirt.

Disneyland still had the donkey ride then! And a cool Indian village with Indian dancers and drummers. I have clear memories of a lot of that trip and some of those pics brought back a great memory! thanks Keith!

Ok I posted this before but since it directly deals with this. Below is a link I found on a guy that takes either trades (of your home movies) or donations only and he'll send you a DVD of your choice. If you look at his videos its a lot of Disneyland attractions from the 50's and 60's. My parents loved being able to see Adventures through interspace again and so on.....just a thought if you wanted to check it out but I know it's nice sometimes to be able to find these kind of hard to find memories.

Can you believe, I found some tickets from an old ticket book? I doubt they're from when we went on that first trip, but it was from another trip. Meeeeemmmmmrrrryyyyysssssss In the corner of my mind...... :rotfl:

Ouch, Bev! We've definitely dated ourselves, haven't we?!?

I found two partial children's ticket books (2 As, 2Bs & 1C--popular Ds & Es were used!) in my parents papers. How they escaped use when Leu's children were young is beyond me! I think we used all of the adult tickets (even the "A" tickets!) when we were in our early twenties.

General admission was $2 per adult, and with the old tickets, we spent a lot of evenings on the Main Street and Fantasyland rides! We were too broke to actually buy ticket books at the time!

As you said, memmmmorrrrrrieeeeessssss! I wouldn't trade them, but I wouldn't go back, either! :hehe:

You got that right Taj! I just wish I could find pictures of that first trip! I know my Dad had a camera! I've got pics of just about everything else we ever did.
I'll have to have my sister go through Mom's pictures and see if she can't find anything. Of course, they'll be in black and white, and the trees and shrubs won't look anything like they do today

Bev and Taja,
That is so cool that you went to DL when you were kids! I hope you can find a picture and post it.

Me too dc....but it doesn't look good. My sis has been through most of the pics (separating them to send to either me or our brother) and she hasn't found one of Disneyland!

I have one more suitcase of photographs to go through--a weekender size (old style, no wheels). I may uncover a few, most likely black and white. For some reason, we continued to use black and white film for stills even when we had color 8mm movie cameras! I think I was about 10 before my parents trusted me with my first roll of color film! :hehe:
