Don't know if anyone can help me on this one, but does anyone know anything about the nightclubs at Downtown Disney? Are they really strict on ID, dress code etc.?
I'm going to Orlando for my 21st and I've heard the clubs are amazing! I love to dance  and I'm staying near Universal Studios, so it's quite far from Disney. I'm not hiring a car, so would it be easier to get a taxi or do the buses run late?

There are clubs also at Universal Citywalk. They are *very* strict on proof of age in the USA, you will have to carry ID. Dress code tends to be casual :) What a great place to spend your 21st in! Have fun! :mexwave:

I'm not sure what kind of a "party-er" you are, but if you're a little on the wild side, you might like CityWalk at Universal better than Pleasure Island. That's not to say that the clubs at PI aren't great! As Isafari said, the age law is very strictly enforced, and you'll have to show proof of age at the gate. They'll then give you a wristband that the bartenders will ask to see every time you buy a drink. Even if someone buys one for you, you'll have to show the bartender your wristband, so be sure to be near the bar if this happens. Dress code is casual, but I wouldn't show up looking too provocative.

As for transportation, I'd give your hotel a call and ask what transport is available from there to PI or Citywalk. They'd know best, and they'd also know the cheapest fare. Hapy Birthday, and Have fun!!

All the clubs at Downtown Disney are on Pleasure Island, which requires a separate admission charge. A Plus feature from a Park-Hopper Plus pass can be used to get you in.

I'm not much of a party guy, myself, but I do enjoy a couple of the clubs at PI. The Adventurers Club is the best; I could spend all night there watching the various characters perform. The Comedy Warehouse is also a hoot; the players put on shows on a published schedule, but each show is improvised with audience input, so each one is totally unique. There are also a couple of dance clubs, and an outdoor stage at one end with live bands, and fireworks at midnight every night.

Sorry, I don't know about the transportation thing, as I always have a hire car, or if I'm drinking I use Disney busses. Of course, if I'm staying off-site and drive myself, I just don't drink all night, but I still have a great time.

willcad... I always ask people this ;-) sorry if I've asked you before... is it possible to go to any of those clubs without getting picked on? I really love to watch but definitely am not a fan of participating ;-)

I've never been picked on in either the Adventurers Club or Comedy Warehouse, although I've only been to them a couple of times.

In the Comedy Warehouse, all you have to do is sit way up in the back. That show is not about making fun of the audience or calling you on stage, anyway. All they do is ask a few questions of the audience to get ideas on which to base the evening's skits.

In the Adventurers Club, there is little or no audience participation; it's almost all scripted routines. Don't jump up in the middle of a routine and yell at the players, and they will stick to the script and leave you alone.

I did witness an American guy who was chosen at the Adventurers Club. He was put on the stage and told to dance to some music. It was a bit strange to be honest and I pray it never happens to me. I suppose if they did say something to you and you just said you didnt want to they wouldnt push it as it could just become difficult and embarrassing for everyone.

The guy was obviously outgoing and loud so maybe thats why she chose him. I hope anyway as we are going again in April.

Do you have to be over 21 to get in? My sister is 20 and will not be drinking however we would all like to go out for dancing. Is this standard over the whole of the US as we are in NYC and are thinking the same, would like to go to a club but am worried you have to be over 21 to get in. Also what kind of ID do you have to show?

There are a couple of places that are over-21 only. Jelly Rolls on the Boardwalk and I think Mannequins at PI are over-21. The other places your sister can go in but obviously won't get a wristband to drink alcohol.

Picture ID is needed. Passport or photocard part of drivers licence.

While PI will allow 18-year-olds in, most clubs do not. It's because of drinking. With drinking laws set at 21 most clubs have a 21 year age limit to get in. Some clubs (but they're becoming more rare) will allow 18 year old women but men have to be 21
