Just got a brochure from the local travel agents - for a possible surprise trip and it looks from the bumph at the beginning that there will be..

... No parade in the parks for 3 months over the Autumn - there will be a parade in the MGM bit but no Princess parade.

:( Cutbacks are one thing but isn't the afternoon parade one of the fundamental things that sets a Disney park aside from just being another theme park.

I cannot understand why DLP has got itself into such a financial mess - they have had a small fortune from me alone since it opened.

As a shareholder (hey don't be impressed - they are virtually valueless now - bought at £7 per share and they are today around 27p!!) I get sent the accounts and reports which make bleak reading.

I do wonder as to the long term viability of DLP and this is probably why the cutbacks are increasing - such a shame

Its the studios - a white elephant i think they call it - shoud have spend more on the one park and had a couple more headliner rides there

Problem is..... often these companies have execs who don't understand the business. They understand balance sheets sure but when it comes to understanding what the customers want, they're nowhere.

I've seen it before many times, and of course the DLP example is classic. The afternoon parade is the LAST thing you want to cut because in itself it'll cause more people to stay away leading to less money leading to less cuts.

It takes a visionary to stop the cuts, think what will actually turn things around and then spend money on getting there. Sadly, there aren't many around these days.

No parades over Autumn - swiz! Ive just returned from quick weekend break in Hotel Cheyenne and loved it so much i wanna go back oct/nov this year for my sons birthday treat. I booked eurostar package with Holidaybank and got a really great deal and am enquiring now for their prices in Autumn but we really love the parades. We dont neccessarily watch them but they do reduce the queues for the rides when they are on!! I didnt see as many charecters this time round either and when they did show they were quicker than a blink of an eye. I agree with chris/lisa about the studios. Nice and clean but boring! Needs more rides. Does anyone know what the grey building is next door to the studios? Its a building site at moment and looks like a Tesco carpark - is it a Disney thing do you know? Or a storage facility for the cm's personalities (!!!)

After a little research, i'm pretty sure that the Villains parade will run throughout October with the halloween party available on the 29th (unconfirmed extra date) and 31st October. The Christmas parade will start beginning of November (which uses the Princess floats). :)

Just spoken to a CM who used to work in the parades up until a few weeks ago and she agrees that the villans parade will take over for a few weeks in October but not september - maybe the brochure has it wrong

BTW - She left DLP because of the cutbacks - didn't like what was going on behind the scene and now she is off to Tokyo Disney

the building site next to the studios - it couldnt be the rumoured Hollywood Tower Hotel being built could it?

I agree with comments here, the studios park is a bit of a waste of space - why didnt they improve the main park like add the california and tokyo indiana jones ride to the indiana jones rollercoaster area of the park, or something like that etc..etc..

by the way...the new Tokyo Disneysea park is FANTASTIC. The original Tokyo disneyland is OK but VERY crowded

The new building is a multi-storey car park :) It is between the studios and Disney Village. Rumour has it that they will now start to build an Imax theatre.

I checked the DLP info and it says the Princess parade will run September and the Villains parade will run October. They did have the info on their website, but they have swapped it now to plug the Lion King show. Lion King featured heavily throughout the resort with lots of good merchandising.

It has ramps! :hyper: and it will be painted a pretty colour, not left grey :hyper:

Maybe they could build the Imax theatre like a big open air screen and we can watch it from the car park ride :D

Dunno can be pretty exciting on Bexhill - with all the 147 year olds who can't see past the steering wheel.

There will be a hight limit - dunno what french for Max Headroom is ??

If you get locked in overnight it may result in pregnancy

Only get wet if you park on the roof - it is after all France and therefore will be raining.

mmm never used a multi story abroad - do they go round anticlockwise?

There will be warning signs about being locked in at night and the results of this oversight.
You can ride if you are Pregnant as this will be classed as TOO LATE!!!

Hi,

Am a new member to this site. We are regular goers to DLP, and I must agree there have been many cutbacks. They even seem to have a staffing problem. Last time we went (last year) we had to wait longer for food than for the rides!! This wasn't even at the busiest times, ie lunch time.
As for the Studios, yes it needs much more as at the mo it is just boring. And the main park also needs some new blood.
if they just bucked there ideas up a bit, I think it could be a truely great place. As we live in UK it is quick and easy to get to, but I know lots of people have been put of by the slack behaviour there.
Lets hope they make some much needed chances to keep the park going!!
