Myself and my husband are bringing our daughter (9) to DLP at the end of July and I'm looking for recommendations for breakfast. As I understand it we can have our breakfast in some of the restaurants in the park as we're staying at a Disney Hotel? Is this right? If so, any suggestions? We're staying at Newport Bay. Anyone stayed here?

Also, any recommendations for somewhere nice for dinner either in the park or in Disney Village during our stay?

:thanks:

Hi and welcome to the boards,

You have two choices for breakfast

either with characters at Cafe Mickey in Disney Village or Walt's in the park on Main Street at a supplement charge of £12 per adult £9 per child if booked in advance,

or simply an early breakfast (Good Morning FantasyLand Breakfast ) which is free of charge but must be requested with your booking agent before departure and allows you to have breakfast and be first onto the Fantasyland rides.

There are several choices for dinner in the park, we enjoy The Auberge De Cendrillon, Silver Spur Steakhouse, or The Blue Lagoon.

In Disney Village we have tried Annette's Diner ( casual American Diner ) , Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe the only drawback with Disney Village restaurants are the long lines that form around park closing time.

Any more questions just ask !

Hello. We stayed at the Newport twice. It feels clean with the blue and white nautical theme throughout the hotel and bedrooms. If I could have unscrewed the old sailor piccie above our bed I would have!!!
We had a lakeside view which was nicer than the front lot. Rooms are nice with usual freebie soap/shampoo and thick towels. Pool large and cool but gets busy if it rains in parks or early evenings. Its only a 7 min stroll to disney village too which is a bonus when your feet hurt! It is a busy hotel but we like this one the best.

Thanks so much for both your replies. I've never been to DLP anc being a BIG Disney fan I'm really looking forward to it. More than hubby and daughter probably!

Hi Celticshedevil

We arrived back from a 7 day Paris disney trip on Wednesday morning. This was our first ever disney experience which we shared with our two boys (aged 7 and 5). We also stayed at the Newport Bay hotel.

What can I say - it was fabulous - a truly magical experience.

We had reason to complain about our room as the wallpaper was peeling off on one of the walls and although we had a balcony it overlooked the car park. However when we advised reception about the wallpaper and a slight knocking on the air conditioning they moved us into a lakeside view room (superb) - if you can get a lakeside view, I would highly recommend.

The included breakfasts at Newport bay are ok, although we paid the extra £40 per day to have breakfast at Cafe Mickeys (10 minute walk from Newport Bay) - this was preferable to Walts as it is a buffet service which allowed my kids to choose what they wanted at their leisure (and also sneak some muffins in our bag for a cheap lunch). On average we met about 5-7 different characters at each breakfast sitting and the atmosphere helped to kick start each day in a truly magical fashion.

For dinner we ate at :

King Ludwigs -
(kids thought this was great, although I had mixed views about the food - kids received a colouring book and a King Ludwig paper hat)

Rainforest Cafe - superb setting - we asked to be seated with the Gorrilas which was an excellent choice (I'll not spoil your experience by saying any more)

Plaza Gardens - Buffet style service - I have read many good reviews on this restaurant, however this was not to our taste (a coincidental sickness bug also struck that night)

Buz Lightyears Pizza Planet - Avoid at all costs - Pizza is already pre-cooked at has a cardboard taste - if the weather is warm the restaurant is also like a furnace.

Cafe Mickeys - had a character dinner here - again Superb choice.

Buffalo Bills Wild West Show - food is ok - experience is worth every penny.

I have already promised the family that we will definately be returning next year to try many of the restaurants that we have missed, but I will definately still start our say with breakfast at Cafe Mickeys.

Have a wonderful time and please ask if you have any specific questions.

Regards

Paul.

Hello. If I could have unscrewed the old sailor piccie above our bed I would have!!!

LOL! You wouldn't believe how many times i've stood looking at the Snow White mirrors in The Disneyland Hotels bathroom, wondering if they'd miss it! Being about 4 foot though I figured they would :D

Paul - The pizza at Bella Notte across from IASW is like that too - it's disgusting and should be avoided at all costs!

Plaza Gardens - would never eat there. We did it once, but never again!

On our last trip to DLP, we had breakfast at "Walts"....WOW!, it was amazing, none of the crazy sardine packed chef mickeys atmosphere, it was a very civilised and relaxing (believe it or not) start to a great day, its a beautifull restaurant was origional walt disney memorabilia, mixed with traditional old american extravigant style, the characters spent a very long time with us (my baby kept trying to suck plutos tounge, much to pluto and mickeys amusement (you could see their shoulders shaking with giggles).

it totally exceeded my expectations in every way, i cant recommend it enough, we went in january and the friendly staff, brought us endless jugs of hot chocolate (im drooling now...sorry!)

anyway its just my opinion, but i cant imagine anyone not enjoying this, we took my husband parents and his sisters family, and they were smitten too.:sun:
