Some of you may know that I absolutely adore big cats - especially lions.
Well, I am going to the Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary on our next visit to Florida. I am going to do the day tour (visits are by appointment only) and it ends with me HAND FEEDING some of the big cats.............like - WOW!!!!!!!!!!They have over 200 cats!!! Some are ex-pets, others circus recued etc

Before anyone says it .....no, I am not going to feed them the hands!

We were going to do the trainer for the day at SW but they have cancelled this feature for the forseeable (!spelling?) future.
So, as we are already going to Tampa for BG, we will use the extra day at this sanctuary. I really can't wait :hyper: :hyper:

I am so excited.

Yes Johnie - there are tigers there too :)
It is situated on Easy Street in Tampa - about 10 minutes from the airport.

Here is the link which I found online - but, be warned - it made me cry reading some of the stories :(

Diane, have you seen Busch Garden's new Keeper for a day program?

I have seen that tour at BG and did think about doing that too but I have gone against the idea because we have only one day left for BG and I NEED to see Max and Kira for a couple of hours - have I ever mentioned that I love lions
There are lots of other things we like to see and do at BG too so the time just isn't available for us :(
If the tour had included a lion encounter then I would have been at the front of the queue :D

Hope you have a fantastic time Isafari. I know you said you werent big on words, but you do produce excellent photos so dont forget the camera. Oh, and I wish you would hand feed the big cats - what a picture that would be!!!

That sounds like a brilliant thing to do, Isafari. Perhaps they run an 'Adoption' programme too. Most rescue centres do. Then you could keep track of one that you have actually seen. Hope you have a fabulous time there.

Yes, they do an adoption program - have already picked out a couple of the cats I want to adopt but I will wait until I am there and actually see them before I sign up for anything - the problem there being that I will fall for all 250 :rotfl:

Diane! You've just given me a new activity to book! I want to spend the night there in those cool cabins and be a "volunteer for a day." Have fun and tell us all about it!

Are you going to book this for your next trip Traveltime? If so, you go before me :)
I am going to contact them to see if you can stay in the cabins the night before as we will have been to BG for the day and we may as well stay in one of those cabions rather than a hotel in Tampa
