There's a lot of planes out there and more on the way. What planes would you like to fly on or do you like already?

I've been on most of those, I guess, and I really liked the 777 - especially when I got bumped to first class!!!

Any Boeing is fine with me! ....and absolutely wouldn't go near an Airbus given the choice (computer wise, they're scary IMHO) ;-)

My DB flew with MyTravel recently and was overnighted at Manchester due to 'aircraft problems'. The replacement they flew in was an old DC10. He made some witty comment about it once belonging to Freddy Laker which didn't go down too well :rotfl:

mondo1748,
I like any airplane that is headed for WDW! (I'd even take a Cessna 150 ) :)
We just came home from Los Angeles on a B757 (on the cheap seats :) ) and we were really surprised to find all the economy seats were economy plus which gave a little more leg room. The seating configuration of 2 3 2 was really comfortable. This plane was headed to London after it made it's stop at Dulles. DS wished we could have stayed on for the next leg of the flight :) .

I never knew there was a plane by the name of Miscellaneous.
I guess I sometimes don't pay any attention to the type of plane, but I still want to vote in this survey anyway, so I chose miscellaneous. I do always remember all the flight attendants, particularly if they are attrractive, but the plane brand - never.
Miscellaneous is my favorite category for everything. Most of my budget is under the miscellaneous account

Slowhand.....Did you know that the 777 flew the longest time in tests with only one engine. The 777's with GE engines are the most powerful engine developed for Commercial aircraft

:iagree:
been on a 747 when one engine stopped felt much better that it was one out of four not one out of two.

I heard somewhere that the 747 could actually take off and land on one engine, however they would have to jettison a lot of fuel if the tanks were full as the undercarriage was not designed to cater for a full load landing.
Isn`t it amazing how much useless information you learn?

as long as they dont have to dump any passengers to land on one engine

Apparently every large commercial aircraft has to jettison most of their fuel if they have to land early to avoid breaking up because they'd be too heavy.
There are some amazing stories about 747s and what they've managed to cope with and land safely.
Thing is, Airbus are now apparently selling more than Boeing and with the new massive airliner it's expected that they'll do even better! Shame really, I still much prefer Boeing.
I remember hearing some pilots talk about the different aircraft they flew on and saying that there was a real lack of feedback on the airbus controls. They really felt the computer was flying them... whereas in the Boeings even though the computer was flying those too ;-) they could feel what it was doing through the controls.
Obviously I don't know for sure <G> but give me a nice boeing 747 anyday.

I don't think a 747 can land a half full (capacity) plane on one engine....can it??? I think the only place a 747 can get you on one engine, is the crash site.
As for the Boeing vs. Airbus....I'll take boeing any day. Boeing is ment to last 3 times as long as an Airbus. Airbus is desgned as a more short term plane. The reason its popular is that they are cheap....This is due to illegal (WTO rules) subsidies to AIRBUS to construct, all the planes. The new Airbus A380 superjumbo is already posing a problem for them as well. It came in 5% over weight.....That's a big problem. efficentcy is big in the airline industry and that is 5% more weight now to get up off the ground. To give you an idea of the impact weight has to a carrier.....When Boeing designed the 777 it was required to stay under a certian weight. If not the Boeing company would pay United Airlines X amount of dollars per pound over.
