View Full Version : Transport times from Disney Resorts to Parks

Hello,
I was just reading through the reviews section (another great feature!) and wondering, can you tell me is Port Orleans French Quarter really the first stop to and from the Parks, and does that really make a big difference? For instance if I'm staying at Coronado Springs how long would it take me to get to the different parks, or if I was staying at POFQ how long would it take? Can't quite figure out from all I've read if that is a big factor or not. I know you all have your favorties and POFQ seems very popular, but I just think Coronado seems so cool with the pools and all and very different and I think my son would love it, but if it makes that big a difference as to how long it takes to get to the parks, I might be swayed. I'm already a little swayed by the boat to Downtown Disney, as I plan to go out at night, and I know Coronado is the longest busride to there. Hmmmm.....

I've never stayed at coronado although I've read reviews from people saying the resort was BRILLIANT but the transport less good.
POFQ is sometimes first (out of POFQ and POR) but not always in our experience last month.
The boat to Downtown disney though is nothing short of excellent. REALLY great... It was a pleasure in itself to take the boat to DTD each night.

I've stayed at both Coronado and FQ and I was very dissapointed with Coronado

Actually the longest bus ride to DTD would probably be from either AKL or one of the All Stars. As far as POFQ being the first stop to and from the parks, each resort has their own buses with the exception of the All Stars which may or may not have their own bus for each resort depending upon crowds. Also there may be times when POFQ and POR have separate buses.

Ah, that answers one question about the resorts each having buses! Thanks, USC, and everyone else!

Also, it depends what time of the year you're going. I stayed at PO-Riverside last January and was very excited to use the boat but we only used it once because when we did it was about 8PM and it was too dark to see anything on the way and it was FREEZING!

Hi, jaxnh. :) I have stayed at POFQ(a few times) and Coronado Springs (last visit and upcoming trip).
POFQ is a lovely place and the boat ride to DTD is very nice at night. We had a lot of long waits for busses at POFQ as it shares with POR.(Although this may have changed by now?)
Coronado is a marvellous place and our new favourite. The bus service was excellent on our last trip.

POFQ does still share with POR although not *always* as John said.
The wait for the bus at POR was one of the downsides for us of what was otherwise an absolutely stunningly beautiful resort.

I am disappointed to hear about the long waits for buses at POR. We are staying there in August.
I was also disappointed when I found out the buses only start running 45 minutes before the park opens. It seems to me they should run earlier than that. Especially since I wanted a very early character breakfast one day and they told me I couldn't have the time unless I could provide my own transportation.
Not having to provide my own transportation was one of the reasons I am staying in the parks in the first place!

I believe the earliest PS that you can get for a character meal is 8:00, and resort buses begin running in plenty of time to get you there for that time.
On our last trip we had an 8:05 for CP and was there several minutes early. We had an 8:05 for CRT and made it in plenty of time. We had an 8:00 Breakfastosaurus PS and had reached the check-in desk at 8:05. We had an 8:30 Princess breakfast in Norway, and got there about 20 minutes early. We took the resort bus each time and had no problems. We were staying at Pop Century. I've never been late using Disney's buses.

I wonder if it was just the person I was talking to that day? I called disney to arrange ps for several differnet dates and the person I talked to told me I would have to provide my own transportation to get to a park by 8:05 for breakfast. I questioned the disney employee about this and they told me the buses start don't start running until 45 minutes before the park opens so I wouldn't be able to make it in time. It didn't make sense to me at the time. I think I'll call back and check this again.

It would be worth checking again. We almost always have early PS for character breakfasts (we've done many of them) and we've never been late! The only time I've had to worry about my own transportation was when we ate at Chef Mickey's. And that's because the resorts don't offer transportation to other resorts.

Unless you are on the monorail loop between the GF, Poly and Contemporary.

True... But since 3princesses said she was staying at POR, I wasn't really thinking about the monorail resorts! LOL

O.K. I think I've finally got this straight. I called to check again, different person, same answer. I wanted an 8:00 ps for Donald's B-saurus and this disney person told me we wouldn't be able to get there without our own transportation. I said, "That doesn't make sense. How can you offer times before the parks open if noone can get there?" She said,"You're right. You should call the resort for more information."
I called the resort - they have a "character breakfast bus" that starts running at 6:45, they said it would be no problem to get there in time.
Thank you so much for helping me with this - now we have an 8:00 seating!(7:50 was the earliest available, but already taken)
(p.s. the third time I called, to change to 8:00, the disney person didn't even question how I was planning on getting there.)
