Hello everyone! I'm getting married next year (23.11.05) at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel :) , everything is being booked through Virgin, and at the moment, I am very happy with how it's all going - but I need help! The price that I am paying doesn't include a reception, so I need some ideas for where we can all go after the big event (bout 18 guests, 5 of whom are children), and most importantly not too expensive and not too far from the hotel!!! I have looked at Gullivers Grill which from the website looks very nice - any more ideas would be very much appreciated!

Kate, do you want to stay in the Swan for your reception or would you consider going elsewhere? only you've got Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island not too far away where you would have a huge choice of reception locations. I'll keep thinking, if I come across anything I'll let you know!
22 weeks to WDW!!!

Hi! I don't mind going elsewhere as long as it's not too far! We can't afford to hire anything to transport all of our guests so it has to be within walking distance really?!

There is the Boardwalk, The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and the Dolphin all within walking distance of the Swan.
See this link (http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/menus.html#other) for typical menus and costs.

What kind of thing did you have in mind? Gullivers is a pretty casual affair good for the kids and you can have either the buffet or a la carte so there is something for everyone. The restaurant is themed and they tell you the story of how you are inside a giant birdcage. The surroundings are very pleasant, nice and airy with very high ceilings with a fountain in the middle. Food wise, there is a separate kids buffet table that my 2 loved. The buffets are swapped nightly though, so if you do want the buffet make sure it's a type of food you will like the night you go. We went on Italian night but didn't fancy the buffet, so we had the a la carte (clam chowder and filet mignon :) ) If you want something a little pricier, there is Shulas Steakhouse at The Swan or The Yachtsman.

I want somewhere that is nice where there will be something for everyone, and Gullivers looked really nice on the website. It didn't seem to expensive either which is a bonus! I have e-mailed them to see if we could decorate the tables a little - I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem? I haven't heard back from them though but fingers crossed!
