i would think they would haven't been to the outlet malls much in Orlando i find the sale prices in the regular department stores as good if not better than the outlets.

However all department stores have a women section which is plus size and there you will find all sorts of clothes, some designers some cheaper. There really is a much better selection than in the UK.

My ex used to shop at a place called Roamans. They have a web site if you google them. Don't know if there are any of these in Orlando or not.

i can't think of any off hand as i don't shop in them myself and anyways i guess my fav Liz Claiborne wouldn't be trendy

if the clothes are for someone else it could be tricky, the sizes don't always hold true btw it is supposed to be 2 sizes different but always depends on the cut, i would be hesistant about getting anyone clothes in case they didn't fit

US Sizes are not consistant by any streach of the imagination. I wear anything from a 6 to 12 depending on the designer.

Two stores that carry plus sizes are Lane Bryant (they also have a catalog) and Catherine's. I noticed Lane Bryant had more younger styles than they used to carry (don't know trendy from anything!) when I was in there last winter looking for a gift.

Mervyn's, a department store, also has been showing plus size junior fashsions (1X, 2X & 3X) in their weeking ad circulars, but I don't know how the sizing runs. I would think similar to plus size women's, but the styles are younger.

Check the measurements of some of her favorite garments and bring those and tape measure with you (if she isn't). If looking for pants, be sure to bring the inseam measurement! As JM noted, U.S. sizing really isn't as standardized as it could be, and style variations can affect garment measurements, as well.

Here's a link for Lane Bryant LB (http://lanebryant.charmingshoppes.com/homelb.asp) and another one for catherines (http://catherines.charmingshoppes.com/home.asp)

Use the store locator selection and it will show you addresses for both stores in the disney area. Taking a look at the web sites will also give you an idea of what kind of stuff the stores carry.

thank you all very much sizing isn't standard here in the UK either a 14 in one shop would be a 16/18 in another. My sister doesn't like fitted clothes so i always buy stuff that i know will be big enough so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. The main problem we have over here is that most plus size clothes are "Grannyish" so i really want to get her something cool even if its just t-shirts.

You should be able to find her some very nice clothing without it looking like it belongs on a Granny. :) Some of the larger department stores here, Dillard's and Burdine's to name two, carry a good selection of women's (an euphamism for plus size) clothing.

I don't think clothing is standardized anywhere. It does all depend upon the manufacturer. If you are used to purchasing clothing for her already, then you should be ok with selecting items for her here.

Liz Claiborne has a line, Liz (original huh?) that is for plus size women. That line is HUGE!! I looked at a 14 for someone in that line once and it was at least two sizes larger than any other 14 available. So, you may want to seek out that brand! (Again, available at Burdine's and Dillard's). Might give her a kick to get something two sizes smaller than she's used to wearing. :) (Smaller as per the clothing tag, not actually smaller).

Roamans is a catalog/website store only. www.roamans.com They are a sister store to Lane Bryant.

I don't think you'll have any problems finding things that are trendy.

You have to be very careful with the Liz line. The sizes are no where near consistent from item to item and it made me nuts just a couple of weekends ago trying to find something fancy for an outdoor wedding

Lane Bryant were fantastic, I only bought a skirt in their on my last trip, but they had loads of trendy styles in there.

I have to agree re. Lane Bryant. I have shopped there myself each time I have been and find them similar to Evans. If you register with them on their website they quite often send you vouchers by email for money off.

We had an aunt that was a tall and large lady, and she went to Lane Bryant for her clothes. I have never understood why some department stores don't carry all the sizes asked for by their customers.

I think people are getting bigger now, because when I was little, a woman 6 feet tall was unusual, and now there are many girls that size. Maybe it's the vitamins. The stores have not caught up yet.

If she likes 'trendy' clothes then the Tommy Hilfiger store at the premium outlet mall has a plus range and it's pretty good, mainly tops and cargo pants/sports wear look for the 1x 2x etc lables, not sure what they equate to in our sizes though. Macey's etc have all their plus sizes under the 'woman' sinage and they also have tommy, ralph lauren and many others.
