This is intended to be a list that you can all add to for places where you can earn miles/points which you can then convert to Virgin Flying Club miles.
If you know of anywhere please reply to this thread with details of the place/hotel chain, where you can join their points club, how to convert, if any free miles are available just for joining :)
American Express credit card
Radisson SAS hotels
Starpoints from spg.com
Hyatt hotels
Slowhand

Red Carnation Hotel group is another.
Actually all of the locations are listed in the booklet sent out by Virgin to their members.
I can never find it when I need it though, so a "sticky" thread like this will be useful Jo. [Hey that almost rhymes!]

Virgin credit card, I think you can get upto 8000 miles just for joining, if you pay the £80 fee and after that 2 miles for every £1 spent.

My most common source of additional miles for Virgin is Hyatt, Radisson, Sheraton and Hilton Hotels and Delta Airlines. However, to qualify for miles for a hotel stay you must book the hotel direct or through Virgin. I was refused miles for a stay at the Sheraton at Heathrow because I had booked through Expedia. I haven't had the same problem at a Hyatt and never had a query about flights with Delta though I have rarely booked them direct.
My best source of miles is through my Amercian Express card though it takes about a month to have the points transferred to Virgin.

my favourite source is Hilton, but it works out better for me to collect them all as Hilton Points and then transfer them to Virgin if I wish to use them, that way I have the choice who I fly with rather than just using Virgin. Also you can use Hilton Points to pay for disneyTickets

We did that with starwood. We registered for their own loyalty programme and then transferred them across to Virgin.
I checked my balance and my Radisson miles hadn't gone on so I called and they said the hotels are useless at processing the paperwork etc. I have to send my Radisson paperwork to the flying club and they'll add them for me. Good job we kept it!
We read somewhere that if you spend £15k on your Virgin credit card in a year you get a free companion flight. We need to check on that if anyone knows anything about it? I'm sure I must have spent that or be close to it.

you first need(or you might even be able to register b4 you fly, not sure) to travel on virgin then register here (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/index.jsp;jsessionid=CnRXRyD8BY8Gw0fh6WZnL1pYv4XGv QFTQ22r1XFp6KvZ9rZhG69y!2070358953)
and then when you next travel you have more miles added and you can also add 2000 miles to get a discount on your next flight, ie i got a quote for last 2 weeks in oct, normal price £613, with 2000 airmiles £377
hope this helps

Virgin offer 2 types of credit cards, for the card that earns miles you need to go through the link on the Virgin Atlantic website on the flying club page, http://uk.virginmoney.com/vaa-credit-card/ I had the same confusion myself!
