We're traveling this weekend with my almost 2 year old daughter. I'm paranoid about her getting lost. I thought that it might ease my paranoia if I could somehow attach a little tag to her with something like her name, our names and descriptions. That way if she got lost it might make it easier for the person who finds her to find us. Any thought on where to get some sort of waterproof ankle tag or something along those lines? She's not very verbal yet (unless she's pointing out bugs  ) and has no stranger anxiety so she'd go home with just about anybody. I'm sure we'll watch her like a hawk, but it never hurts to be prepared, right? Has anyone done something similar?

Are you in the US? if so you can have "pet tags" made at most wal-marts. They're small and you could attach it to her shoelace.

Here is a link to a child safety pack (http://www.mypreciouskid.com/wearable-ID-Kit.html)

Here's another system:

Link to velcro ID wrist bands (http://www.smartalec.bigstep.com/generic36.html)

(I used the hospital type wrist bands on DS when he was younger--I see if I can find another link)

Ive seen child alarm type things in a mail order brochure (ill find out exactly for you), basicly your child wears one on its wrist, you wear the other and when you child gets parted from you a certain distance the little alarm goes off!!, dont know how usefull they would be, but i also have a 2 yr old and shes always running off so i know how you feel!!, you can also buy disposable "kid id" wrist bands at most big supermarkets.

I saw a review just the other day on those alarm things. Seems like alot of $ for not so much security to me. If the child wanders away, his alarm goes off. But the kids that they were demonstrating with weren't fazed at all. The child kept walking. The other not so good thing is that only 1 goes off. If the choild gets too far away, his alarms, but yours doesn't. Seems like it would work better if both alarmed at the same time. You might still want to look in to one, but thats just what I saw!

Not having children I wouldn't know the best solution but the pet tag sounds great....plus they have cool shapes and colors....like pink hearts...very princess.

I have also read someplace about taking a picture of the child before you head out to the parks that day. That way you are sure of what they are wearing and a very accurate description can be given out if needed.

My brother actually had to be put on a leash about 35 years ago. He could just get so far so fast. I didn't used the think they were a good idea...the more I think about it tho. Those spiraled cords with a velco wrist band on both ends are kinda cool. I mean imagine being less than a foot tall and having to hold an adult height hand for hours! Those things let the poor kids hold their arms at the right height....I know I wouldn't want to walk around with my arm over my head all day!

i had never looked at it that way brenda
but for oli , 18 months , we have a velcro one but it is not the coil connector just a length of elasticated stuff
we bought it from the local nursery shop
mandy did suggest tying a rope around his neck but i did not like that idea much

There is a website where you can buy tags to protect your kids while at DisneyWorld or Disneyland. It is called www.IfLostTags.com (http://www.IfLostTags.com). The tags are meant to wear so that if the child gets lost they can quickly and easily be returned. You can buy tags, stickers or t-shirts. The good thing about these products if that they are extra safe for kids as only phone numbers (no names or addresses) are supposed to be written on them. And they attach to the back of the shirt or jacket so kids can't take them off. I hope this helps.

I love the idea of taking the child's picture before entering the parks, we take pictures of our parking space, that child is far more important.

Hey John, it needed saying again, this is one thread that needs to be repeted ,Often. Agreed???Agreed, it is just that normally one would start a new thread about it instead of replying to a 4 year old one. :D
