I'm looking for a little input from "people of size". I''m just wondering if any of you have been lately that can tell me about specific rides that I should pass on. I'm about a size 26, but I'm pregnant. I know alot of the rides have redtrictions for pregnant women, but I'm thinking about the rides I'd like to ride with my 5 year old. Any input would be appreciated. We are going a the end of this month.

Hi, WindyLea!
I usually research this site pretty thoroughly before posting links elsewhere, but it's getting late and the eyes are about to give out. So, dear moderators and adminstrators, if I have erred, please correct this link with one to the main site. :)
Here is a link to Deb Wills Deb Wills (http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm) site, which has a section called "WDW at Large", which was written primarily by a plus size woman, with notes from others of varying height and girth. The information isn't perfect, but it's pretty good! I researched everything I could find last year before traveling with a leg injury.
If you go to the home page, you'll also find information for expectant mothers.
Also, in our Trip Reports forum, check out Dawn's November-December, 2003 Jedi Trip Report. It's long, fun and informative. Their extended family included her son (about eight months at the time), nephew (about age 2), and niece, who was about six (I think). Just skim through it (if you can) for pertinent information. You'll probably end up reading it thoroughly and laughing so much your family will come to check on you!
Have fun planning and enjoy your trip!

Hi...Im on the large size, both height and weight (lost 20lbs and counting!!) I have found anything with size issues usually has a seat right at the entrance, beside the ride restrictions, that you can sit in to see if you fit...but its usually on rollercoasters, which wont bother you since you are having a baby!! (congratulations, by the way!!)
NOTE : Big girl seats are row 3 and row 6..if in doubt TEST THE SEAT...saves blushes later!!
The only thing I have had bother with is the rocket things in Future World at MK....in saying that I did try to get in behind my 6'2" DH, and it was more a case of we didnt fit lengthways, rather than widthways....he is regular sized!!!
I would just stick with the signs posted at every ride entrance....most say expectant mothers shouldnt ride, however some 3d shows have motion free seats, which allows you to see the movie without your poor wee baby being shaken around like a milkshake!!!!
Im sure you will have a fantastic time!!! And good luck with the baby....

Thank you so much for that information. Is the ride your talking about "Astro Orbitor"? I think I rode that once, but it's good to know that if my DD wants to ride, I'll be able to. What do you mean about big girl seats are row 3 & 6? Are those seats bigger on all rides, or just roller coasters? The only roller coaster I really even considered is the Goofy's Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain. I'm not much of a coaster person, but my DD is, and I'd like her to be able to ride one if possible. I heard that those 2 aren't terrible, even though I'm sure it's not recommended for expectant mommy's.

Hi, yes I meant the Astro Orbiter!!! I have to say I havent been on the Goofy one...I am currently child free and feel a bit silly going on the kiddy rides with my hubby!!! Big Thunder Mountain is quite bumpy as its supposed to be a railroad, but it doesnt go upside down or anything scary like that!!
The big girl seats I was talking about are the ones on the rollercoaters with size issues. eg The Hulk at Universal Studios. There are tester seats in front of the ride, one regular and one bigger sized one. The bigger ones are found on rows 3 and 6.
Ive had no bother with anything Ive been on at WDW/Epcot/MGM/Animal Kingdom, so good luck, and watch that wee baby doesnt get too shoogled about. Im sure you and your DD will have a great time!!!

I don't know about being a size 28, or anything like that. I am 6' 5" tall and 320lbs. This puts me firmly in the category of "big and tall". I have your typical Scandanavian build, barrel chest, long legs, short arms and long spine.
The newer rollercoasters being built, do not have people my size in mind, when designs are being put together. I am used to squeezing into the cramped spaces and folding my legs up so I can wedge into the space provided. Add shoulder harnesses, lap belts and straps between the legs, and at times it is more than I can contort into.
As I get older, I find I can't fit into as small a space as I used to. That isn't because I am getting bigger, I just don't bend like I used to. It has gotten so bad, that when I fly for longer than 3hrs, I fly first class. That's so I don't need a chiropracter upon landing.

Thank you so much for the post. I appreciate the input. Beside the roller coaster, any other problems?

We are now back from our trip, and we had a blast! I had no issues with seat size. It was quite a relief. I rode everything that I wanted to ride. Now I can't wait to go back! DH says we can't go back until the new baby is 4 years old, soooo, it's gonna be a while! Grrrr!!!!

Just think of all the education your child will experience (Disney, of course! ;) ) during that time and all of the money you can save for your next WDW trip!
Who know, you might be able to convince your DH that going shortly before your new edition turns 3 would be a good value--park ticket not required for the little one!
It will be two against one! :)

I'm a plus size gal at about a 16/18. The only problem I have ever had is when I try to ride with my skinny children & their skinny legs along with my big legs. I always feel like I can't pull the bar down far enough (as in BTM) to keep them safe. I smash it on my legs & hold on dearly but I still worry about that.

Thats a good point, and one I'll have to consider next time. Since we mainly rode the little kid rides this time, it wasn't much of an issue for us, but if DH really makes us wait 4 years to go back, it will be an issue for my oldest. I hadn't even thought of that!

Hi there!!
So glad you had a nice time
It would be great if you could share some of your experiences in a trip report. That way you may just solve others questions!
Good luck with the baby!

My mom rides the rides, and she's a large person. Goodluck with it, and have a nice trip!
