I made a reservation for Feb '05 for POR with the AP rate of $79/night. We wanted CBR but they had no rooms to accomodate a family of 4 (king bed only). This is supposed to be our low budget trip, as August was our "big" trip. However, we would love to stay at the Boardwalk.

I found a Boardwalk villas studio available for $204/night. Nothing at the BW Inn. I am concerned about the pullout sofa which serves as the second bed. Has anyone stayed here in a studio? Is it comfy and roomy enough?

What would you do? Do you think the convenience of the BW location is worth the extra $$$? We loved the boats to MGM and Epcot when we stayed at the Dolphin in Aug. Also, the microwave and fridge would be handy for breakfast and snacks. Also, the surrey bikes, mouseboats, bakery....Hmmm, am I trying to convince myself?

Can we hold 2 ressies for the same time period? Maybe we should book both and then decide?

Said it before, I'll say it again...

Split the stay! It's easy and you can stay at 2 resorts during one vacation.

Bev,

I love this idea and we did it in August, but we were there for 10 nights. Now we are going for 7 nights, and probably won't get in until late the first night, so it's more like 6 days in the parks. I don't think I want to lose such a big part of one day packing/moving/unpacking with a 5 and 7 year old. Also, we won't have a car with us. But now you have me thinking...

We're doing this for our upcoming trip...it's for 7 nights. We've got 3 nights at POFQ, and 4 nights at Pop Century/. We're also taking 2 2year olds with us...Our DGD's.

So I know what you mean about doing all that with kids. But I couldn't pass up the deal! And as for packing and unpacking, we've done this so many times, it's just no problem.

We'll have our car, but the last time we did this..we didn't..and Disney moves your luggage for you. All you have to do is pick it up at the lobby of the resort your're checking into. They make this as painless as possible..

Only you can decide if the extra $$ is worth it but for what it's worth, a studio is much nicer than a regular hotel room at any of the non-DVC resorts. Especially better than the moderates. It will be a little larger and it will have a kitchenette. (Kitchenette will have a wet bar/sink,small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, coffee mugs and glasses, paper plates, bowls and utensils). Saves a little on eating small breakfasts in the room too ~ you can do things like bagels or english muffins, cereal and milk, pop tarts, etc.

As to your question about the pull out being comfortable. I've slept on them in studios before and they're not bad. Not as comfy as a regular bed but not awful either. Your kids would definetly have no problem on them though.

You have to remember too that the location will be MUCH better as you can both walk or take the boat to both Epcot and MGM from the BW so that is a factor in the higher price and the pool at BW is nicer as well. The pools waterslide the "keister coaster" is rated as one of the better one's on WDW property. Is it worth double the price? Again, only you can really decide. But if you can swing it, I would opt. for BW. Oh, and as to "can you hold 2 ressies?". Yes, you can but you will have to leave 1nights deposit on both of them for a room only ressie and the cancelation rules apply to both (but it's only 5days prior). You can hold up to 3 ressie's with one AP . I just would cancel the one you don't want ASAP though as to not tie it up for other's who may be trying for the AP rate ~ they only release so many rooms with the codes.

HTH's some. Let us know what you decide;)

how long are you going? If your not going for a long time, I'd say go to POR, because you won't be spending time at your resort anyway! If not, go to the BW!

D dreamer, we are going for 7 nights.
Bev, you are right! I have decided to split the stay - 4 nights at POR and 3 nights at BW. However, once I made my decision, I couldn't get any AP discounted rooms at the BW! But, I am trying a travel agent and they supposedly have rooms held for us, so we'll see if they come through.

Thanks, everyone.

HOpe things work out with the discounts!! And splitting stays really isn't hard. Just let the front desk know what's going on...get the luggage people to move your luggage. You go off and do what you want until about noon...go check into your new resort pick up your luggage and you're off and running again!
