Last week "Jeopardy" had a question about Mad King Ludwig's castle in Bavaria....Neuschwanstein. What Disney Princess castle used Neuschwanstein for a model?

The answer...Sleeping Beauty's castle at DisneyLand.

I always thought it was Cinderella's Castle...or is the just at Disney World?

I know I will get the correct answer here!

Sleeping Beauty, then they used that as the inspiration for Cinderella's Castle.

There's a local tale based on our old Naval Prison just off the shores here, that Walt made modifications to SB's castle based on the architecture of the naval prison. Rumor has it he spent a little time there, which I dont believe at all, but it's a fun local story and the prison does indeed remind us of The Castle. :D

As far as I know its the Sleeping Beauty castle

Well, its the castle located in Disneyland, so many tour guides will actually say "The Cinderella Castle in Disneyland", so maybe thats why the confusion arises

But its the castle in Disneyland :)

The castle at Disneyland (CA) definitely is the abode of Sleeping Beauty.

Don't know about the rest!

American tourists are already familiar with Neuschwanstein; the sleeping beauty Castle in Disney Land, was modeled on it.

I read that Cinerellas Castle was inspired from the castles in both cinerella and sleeping beauty movies

Does that mean the castle at DisneyLand is different than the one at DisneyWorld? Now I am confused!

Yes because the castle at Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty's and is VERY small compared to Cindy's Castle at WDW.

Remember when Walt was building Disneyland he only had $17 million to do it with! Thunder Mountian at Disneyland when it was built in the late 70's early 80's cost that much also!

And the Castle at Disneyland is a walk through story of Sleeping Beauty.
the Castle at WDW you just walk through. No show...only dinner.

Hhmmm. DLParis also has Sleeping Beauty's Castle. You'd think there'd be a different one in each park, wouldn't you.

From http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/castle.html-

Herbert Ryman began with a charcoal sketch, which he developed into a painting. He used several French castles for his inspiration, among them Chambord, Usse, and Chenonceau. Inspiration also came from the classic Walt Disney animated feature Cinderella.

ummm

I was so sure the castles at the parks belonged to different princesses

So.. where do Ariel, Jasmin, Belle and the others live?

How come Aurora gets a small castle, and Cindy has castles and "summer residences" all around the globe???

PsychoAlice
October 26th, 2004, 21:10
LOL cause if Walt would have put more money into the castle there would have been nothing else but a castle when Disneyland opened! ALSO Disneyland property is very small compared to WDW where WDW is 47 square miles Disneyland only has a few hundred acres and everything is completely built up around it..
