We are staying at a hotel on International Drive - if this was you, how much would you leave for the housekeeper/maid per day?

$1 per person per day *IF* and only if the service was really good

i'll probably be jumped on but i would only tip a house keeper (outside of disney) if they had done something above and beyond the call of duty.

We usually leave a minimum of $2 a day and if we've had the same person for most of our stay and if the service was excellent, then I always write a note thanking that person with an extra $20 in the envelope. I usually leave it at the front desk so that I can be sure that the person I want to receive it does get it.

For standard hotels, I would leave at least $2 the first day and $1 for the remainder. If you have a big group and you are putting the maids to a test though, I'd leave $2 or more a day. Its always nice to leave a nice tip on the last day too. Lets face it, housekeeping is not a glory job and they get lousy pay.

I would see how the service is and then probably a couple of dollars if they did a good job. To test them, throw a few crumbs under the bed and see if they vacuum them

Sorry to hijack your thread Diane, but Lois has just made our mousekeeping envelopes and we were thinking $5 a day for The Poly for 4 of us. Do you think that's enough or should you tip more at a deluxe?
