It is time to book something with Jane and GOAL for our 20th wedding anniversary trip in december/january. :D I have been in touch with Jane and the date we have set aside is the 5th January while we will be at EPCOT all day.
Jane has come up with the following idea which I am not too keen on........

The Disney Survivor Anniversary Challenge!
The two of you will be met in the park by us and given official notification
that in honor of surviving these years with you in marriage, David has been
chosen for the Disney Survivor Anniversary Reward Challenge. He will be
given tasks that must be completed within 2 hours and the items he will need
to complete those steps. Tasks would be things such as finding clues to
other tasks hidden around the park, doing a taste test challenge, finding a
certain person, obtaining exact photographs. This event can take place in
either MK, EPCOT, or MGM. At the end of the event he receives a Marriage
Survivor certificate and any gift you would like to include for the finale.
The event, not including a finale gift, is $325.00. We can either purchase
something for you (and shop for you, if you wish), or you can send something
to us in advance.

I think I am going to be selfish on this one (have already got lots of surprises planned for dh) so I think I would like something for the two of us to be able to share.............maybe even something that just takes up an hour of our valuable Disney time. GOAL will work with you to just about anything you suggest as far as I know - as long as it doesn't break any of the park rules.

Suggestions anyone

Hmmmmmmmm I think you've every right to want to do something "together"...Now, as far as the "what" of it...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that's a hard one...

Do you like the "idea" and just want to incorporate "togetherness" into it, or are you looking for something totally different?

I'm with you Isafari, I don't much like that survivor bit. I am not terribly familiar with all that GOAL can do. I know they exist and that they are quite popular, but I've never used them.

Togetherness, celebration of love, and a milestone anniversary, renewal of the dreams and attractions that brought you together and honoring of the deep love that keeps you together. All those sound like they could form the criteria for an event that is yet to be designed. You could try coming up with a list of criteria that describes what you want, and have GOAL determine the actions to meet the criteria?

Just because I don't know much about it, why do you "need" GOAL at all? Could you do a tour, or have a wonderful dinner or get some professional photos taken or do the leave a legacy tile, or something along those lines. It would keep you together but not involve someone else's interpretation of how you should spend your time?

All the best to you in deciding what you want to do!

keep 'em coming :D

So far for surprising dh I have.........arranged to have vows renewed (along with photographer/limo for the day/boat cruise/meal with friends etc...oh, also bought him a new ring and a couple of gifts to have him find in the limo when we return from the vows)
Arranged for him to do the Richard Petty Rookie Experience at the racetrack.
Booked CdS
Serengeti Dining Safari at BG
Champagne etc to be delivered to our cabin at the Big Cat Sanctuary (we will be staying here overnight while in Tampa)
oh........that may be it up to now :sshhh: he knows nothing

So, I think I want a little back and want to arrange something special for the two of us while we are at Epcot for the day.......wonder if it is too late to book Illuminations Cruise...although we are only going to be at Epcot the once and I want to video Illuminations so it may be better to be on land

Isafari,
Regarding the Illuminations Cruise: You could always ring them and see if they have anything available. One of the cool things about the Illuminations Cruise is that you get on the boat outside of EPCOT and you don't pay any park admission to do the cruise. So, you could use a non-park day to do the cruise. :) You could film Illuiminations on your park day for your wide angle shots and then film Illuminations from the boat for your tight--close in shots of the globe. Wouldn't it be great to have two different viewing angles for your Illuminations film? :D

Not really a "complete" idea...but since the tradtional 20th Anniversary is "China" I think it would be really cool to incorporate *that* into your trip...For instance if you're going to do something special for him at EPCOT, you could do it *in* China (in the World Showcase)....or is that really corny?

I love the china idea   yes, it is corny but hey, let's work on this.
Ok - we have only been to Epcot the once and I admit we just about walked past China so.......what sort of things can you do in China?
I am going to go and think about this idea - thanks mm

There is the movie in the round. They've updated it.

There is the museum display that features articles representative of some of the different cultures in China.

There is Nine Dragons full service and Lotus Blossom Cafe for counter service.

There are the acrobats.

There is a fairly large shop and a couple of outdoor kiosks.

Ample photo opportunities.

Or, you could go to the UK and purchase some lovely English China! :D
