In my Feb trip, there are two families all staying in a 2bdr villa @ Boardwalk. I know you can charge many things via your room key. However, we will have two families charging to the same room. Does anyone know if there is a way to set it up so you can distinguish between one family's charges and another, without having to keep track manually? I hope the question make sense.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks!!!

Given that the facility has to be linked to someone's credit card and when you get past a certain amount it gets auto charged to that card :/ I think the safest bet would be to ask for no-charging capability and then each family to just use their own credit cards :/

I was told that you can link seperate credit cards to seperate room keys.

I was told it had to be one "for the room" but it was a trainee (albeit with a normal CM standing behind him) so perhaps they got it wrong.

I guess it'd be nice for kids if they could use the room key

Yes Jr Mickey, that was what I was hoping. You know, two keys assigned to Dad's credit card and two keys assigned to my/our credit card based on the serial number or whatever. That would be great and yes, especially for the kids Keith.

I had asked because of a land-sea package and your room key is the same key you use on the ship. It would have been a friend and I and obviously it wasn't just the "at disney" purchases we were worried about and we were told it wouldn't be a problem

momma3,
If the reservation was made as a 2BR unit, then they can not associate two cards with the account and you can't automatically separate the charges.

But, each room charge key has a number associated with it (on our last bill DH had card #3 and I had card #2), so you could tell who charged what--but you would still have to sort it out manually and you wouldn't want to do the express check out. You could ask for the front desk to print you out a copy of the bill the night before and then sort out your charges. If there are any room charges after you settle your bill, the charge is billed to the last credit card that was used.

I think that there is a good chance that things could get messed up. Especially when you consider the point that Keith brought up-When charges reach the dollar figure of 1,500 at BWV, they charge it back to the card on record (or the last card that was used).

One thing that we have noticed with the 2BR lockoff units: the main reservaton is listed under the studio room number. So, phone messages were routed to the studio side where DS was staying (versus the 1BR side where DH and I were staying) and the express bill was sent to the studio side of the unit, too.
Are you using points or is this a cash reservation?

Its a cash reservation through AAA. That is a good idea about getting a print out of the bill the night before. Having card 1, 2, 3....seems like it would help a bit.

You really would be better off using individual credit cards, honest. It can be a nightmare to sort out, and BWV has had some limited problems with getting those room charges right. Not a huge problem mind, but it is one less thing you wouldn't have to worry about.

When activating a room key as a charge card, you can choose to have some cards for the same room NOT activated. So, Mom and Dad can have charging capability, but children can be blocked from it.

momma3,
If it isn't a package that has to be completely paid 30 days in advance, be aware that when you check in, they immediately charge whatever the room balance is--so, if you are splitting the cost you will want to tell them to charge X number of dollars to your CC and X number dollars to your Dad's CC. (Then, the last CC that was used remains the one on file )
My Mom was sharing a room with my sister's, sister-in-law ( :D )--They weren't really paying attention when they checked in. They were planning to settle up on the last night before checking out and were really surprised to find out that the room balance had already been charged to the CC that was put on file. They were able to get it sorted, but it was a little bit of a hastle.

Our room charges will all be paid in full prior to arriving, so that won't be an issue. I think I will ask my parents to charge their expenses to their credit card and My husband and I will just activate our room keys for our expenses. I can't see my parents incurring many other room-related charges outside of a phone call or two and that would be no big deal. Well, unless they have an itch to call Guam.

I'm very glad I asked. Thank you so much for the help.

That'll work! :D

When my nephew stayed with us last year my sister tried to give him spending money either by paying cash or giving the front desk an additional credit card number. I had already fully paid for the room by credit card that morning, so she would not be charged when checking in. She was told that all charges had to go on the same card, even though I had been told you could pay ahead for charging privileges with cash. She ended up giving Jacob cash.

When my children have gone with school trips (no charging allowed), I have sent them with a pre-paid Visa card. It makes it easier for them not to have to carry too much cash.
