Big First Day for The Incredibles!

Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles had a big first day as the animated action-comedy earned $20.9 million at the box office, which is slightly higher than "Finding Nemo"'s first day of $20.2 million. It should be another huge first weekend for a Pixar film with probably around $80 million for the three days. "The Grudge" came in at number two with $4.3 million and "Ray" at number three with $4 million.

Meanwhile, The Incredibles writer and director Brad Bird told Moviehole that he would be up for a sequel:

Well, you know, I think some people nowadays think that anytime a movie is successful it magically is a franchise and I don't think that is true of every project. I don't think that we need Jaws II, however, I do think we need Empire Strikes Back or Godfather II or Road Warrior or a Goldfinger so I think that if you get the original film makers and the intent of the original filmmakers is to equal or better the one that everyone like then they believe going in that they can do that then I would, you know, I love these characters and I would, you know, if I could do Incredibles II that was to Incredibles what Toy Story II was to Toy Story, I would do it.

We saw *The Incredibles* today...and while we all loved it, it is VERY different from Pixar's other films. This one has more adult themes almost that are rather overpowering for some kids. It had *real* fear factors that were rather intense...hard to explain without giving anything away. But, this is NOT what you are expecting...still lots of laughs, but some serious tension.

Took the kidlets to the "drive-in" last night to see it...I agree with Figment...quite different from what we were expecting...but still a *great* movie, LOVED the characters!!

Just a side note...Pixar has a little "pre-movie" as they are prone to do, this one is call "Boundin'" and I have to say, I enjoyed it almost as much as the movie itself!! There's a brill lesson in there! Bound, Bound and Rebound...Jackalopes Rock!

Figment, Miracle!
What age range would you put on it in 'attention' terms?

Hmmmm, well...no problems holding my six year old's attention...although I'd say there *were* some things that went over her head. She LOVED the characters as well...and spent ages playing with them in the Disney Store yesterday! Her favorite was "FROZONE" :D

I saw clips for this film over the weekend (on tv at the BC). It looks wicked funny, but as Figment says has some areas that are surprisingly adult.

One of the few animated type films I've thought looked interesting in a long time.

Saw it yesterday. I loved it!!!

But found myself forgetting that it is a CGI animated cartoon. It felt like I was watching a live action movie, lots of character development, adult issues (infidelity, mid-life crisis), teen problems (fitting in), it is very entertaining, with lots of funny dialog and moments. Lots of adults laughing.

Kids looked entertained with the visuals and funny gags, but most of the dialog went right over their heads. I would say it was well balanced.

My DH & I saw it this weekend & loved it!!! It was the first really fun & entertaining movie we had seen in a while. The whole audience was cracking up all over the place kids & adults alike. We had a great time at this movie. I also agree with miraclemoments about the short story at the beginning. Very cute!

...the short story at the beginning. Very cute!

My wife says I analyze things too much, but here it goes...

I think the sheep is a metaphore for Pixar and it's situation with Disney. Pixar is being stripped of it's ability to distribute it's movies, but eventually everything will be fine and Pixar will "bound and rebound" back. Just my opinion... :D

Interesting SM!!! I guess everyone gets a little something different depending on their frame of mind at the time...for me, as I have been having a bit of rough spot as of late, it was a reminder to just keep...boundin' and rebound...but I think your metaphor is quite accurate...

Queenie... Its still not out here, so cant say from personal experience, but I did watch on TV that they thought its was for 6/7 year olds and up...

And it contains violence and stuff.... at least thats what I remember they said...
