My computer crashed over the weekend, dead from an ubber virus (I haven't let Mike out of the dungeon yet for turning off my norton) and I had to redo everything

It seems okay now except it keeps beeping at me. I have windows XP and I did the go into the control panel, go into sounds, and then turned off the blasted beeps. BUT, they are still there when I close a document or save or open or ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG and I have the stupid speakers turned off so where is the sound coming from anyway

Please help me make it stop :Please: :Please: (stop laughing Chris, this is so not funny, it's driving me crazy)

looks like the virus could be still there, checked on google and it sounds like a macro virus, i'd get the latest virus updates and some spyware and run them

After you turned the beep off did you restart the PC? Sometimes you have to restart for it to work.

I nearly sounded as if I knew then, didn't I? :D

There seems to be a lot of viruses going around...and that's enough to make me spit!

I can't help you Breeze, but if you had a hearing problem like I do, I'd take out my hearing aid!

does it constantly beep, or just when you use certain programs, sometime virus's can infect the memory on pc's or your motherboard may have a problem

under pick a task, click on "change the sound scheme"
click on the "Sounds" tab

Dc, that's what I did and for the most part it's fine. It only happens in a microsoft word document when I close a file or do a save as.......

Chris the fan is running just fine and the computer isn't overheating unless my hot flashes are affecting it  :sigh:

AND when I called my brother the computer wizard he said that my computer was trying to communicate with me in binary and that I should try beeping back at it....... He's gonna so get a :slap: when he shows up to fix this blasted beeping monster  :hmph: (right after he gets rid of the beeping that is)
