Good morning, hope you're all well!

I'm getting deeper into planning my first ever disney trip (2 week vacation starting 15th May next year).

We're adopting a day-on day-off aproach to the parks, and although we're going to be reliant on disney transport I was wondering if it would be worth having a look down this area (I assume we'll need to get a cab to do this??)

So, the questions i'm really asking are:

Since we will not be taking a car, is it feasible to visit this area?
Would a cab be the best method, and how much would it cost (we're staying at POFQ)??
Since we'd probably only go once, is it best to go in the day for shopping, or the evening for entertainment? Or do the shops open late so we could go in the evening and catch a dinner show or something?
What's worth seeing there?
Is it easy to get cabs back to resort after?

Any advide at all would be great. We've never been to the states before (never been outside europe!), so we don't really know what to expect.

i would say if your going to visit i-drive then take the bus that runs up and down, i-drive is very big, you can get the bus from DTD i think, you can get a pass that allows you to get off and on, you can spend a whole day just going up and down, link to the lynx bus service (http://www.golynx.com/?pid=1155691)

Hi Ad!

I-Drive is such a big area itself that you'll really have to decide what you want from it and how long you're prepared to stay there. There really is enough to fill a 2 week vacation just in I-Drive!

Universal Orlando (Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios) is well worth seeing but will take a day each. Sea World is fantastic (another day!) Wet and Wild water park, Shopping Malls (Mercado, Pointe Orlando, Premium Outlets, Beltz etc) hundreds of restaurants, minor attractions (Titanic, Wonderworks etc.) and as you mentioned, dinner shows too!

It does demand lots of planning and eliminating those attractions which are not too important to you personally.

The I-Ride Trolley (really cheap and easy to hop on and off) will take you up and down to most attractions (apart from Universal) and cabs are easy to come by - even if they are a little expensive. But then if you're only going there once it's worth spending the little bit extra and having more time there than having to rely on busses for transport, especially if you're planning a dinner show which can sometimes finish quite late.

I've probably made things even worse for you now haven't I? Sorry!

Happy planning

Niki

As i found when I started planning my time in disney world, I think I've majorly underestimated the size of I-Drive......

Ah well, it means I can do loads more planning again!! :D

I was reading your post about International Drive and there is so much you can do there and they do have a bus system or trolley. They have a website which is:http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/
I had sent am email to them and I got a brochure in the mail that shows everything that is there and the transportation that is available.

I hope this info helps.:)
