Hey all! I just returned from a wonderful 9 day stay at WDW. Here is my dilema.....
We first went in '97 & then returned every year for another visit. Then in '02 we started going twice a year. So this is our third year of going basically every 6 months give or take. We decided last summer it would be our last time going in the summer. For many reasons, mainly it's to hot & crowded, plus it's expensive going twice a year & my kids are still loving it but the thrill is not like it should be when you go somewhere too much. We love the Christmas time of year & decided on 1st week of December of '05. That is 14 months away!!!!! How am I going to go OVER a year without going to WDW!!!! I have always joked I'm like an addict but in the week since we've been back it's in the back of my mind constantly & I don't know if I can stand it!
Help!!! :tears: I think I may need meds.

If it's of any consolation to you, think of those of us on the far side of the Atlantic who have no idea when we'll next get to visit WDW! You are soooo lucky to be able to go once a year! Don't worry - the time will fly by while you're on the boards - reading the trip reports from those who are going before you.:D

I agree, the time will fly, just knowing that you do have an impending trip! I too am among those in the "I don't know when I'm going back to WDW" club. Spend your time planning and replanning and helping others plan.

DH wanted to go to WDW again next year..he loved it so much so I got all excited...then he decided (with me too) that he wants to stay at the Polynesian for 3 weeks (he wont do different resorts in those three weeks, doesn`t want to unpack and pack) so now we can`t go until 2006 as it will take longer to save, plus he wants to fly first class after our horrendous experience and we don`t put it on the credit card, preferring not to have to pay for it for the rest of our lives when we get back so next summer everyone is going to have to talk me through the summer cos I will be on an emotional rollercoaster :o(

I do know i'm lucky to go as often as i do & to have gone as often as I have. I remember a mother from my daughters school a few years ago telling me about her 1st trip to WDW she'd just taken. I couldn't wait to talk to her when she got back to hear all about it. She had two of her 4 kids sick & they spent most of their time stuck in the hotel room or running to the ER. I felt so bad for her especially when she said "it was a once in a lifetime vacation for us". They have never returned as it's too expensive for them. I have often thought back on that statement when I'm having a pity party to smack me into reality.
I do have some plans to waste the time. I just bought one of those recordable dvd players w/a built in vcr so I'm going to make WDW dvd's out the whaa-hoo. I'm going to retape all my tv shows onto dvd & put them in catagories (Great Hotels, etc.). I'm going to put all of our yearly trips on dvd too.
I also plan on starting a scrapbook. Wish me luck, I'm not too crafty!
I also have a box full of seperate bags of stuff from each trip. Most of it is confirmation letters, room cards, resort maps, park maps from each trip, napkins from restaurants, etc. Any idea how I can better organize each trips stuff without mixing it all up together?

See there? You'll be so busy that you won't even notice that your next trip is upon you!

Would all the things you've saved from each trip fit in one of those clear shoeboxes. I didn't say that too well. What I mean is, would the items from each trip fit in one box per trip? There! They are relatively inexpensive, stack, and you can make identifying tags for each box.

That's a good idea OKWTink. You can get those at Target & such. I would have to do some folding or perhaps mayber find some of those under the bed type boxes but not so big. Ah! A trip to Target tomorrow, yay!

I wonder if you can find shirt sized plastic boxes? My Mother used to have them.

Or maybe just a good old browse in the container section of Target (or other store) will reveal something to your sharp eye that might work!

Do let us know what you decide on, ok? :D

If it's any consolation, BT. My countdown started out at a year to go!! :( It has gone amazingly fast.
Had a few impatient bits in the middle but it really has flown by.
Keep busy, that's the secret.

Last night I was driving home with my girls in the back seat & my daugher was talking about trying to spend all this change she had in her purse at the mall arcade. I told her to put it back in her piggy bank & save it for our trip in Dec. '05. As I said it it didn't rattle in my head like something so far away because I thought "it's almost Dec. '04 now"! I think once I get in the 12 months & under range it won't seem so bad. I also think this may turn out to be a good thing. I think my whole family will be way more excited about the next trip when we haven't been in so long. Absense makes the heart grow fonder, right!
I picked up 6 shoebox size tubs to start my organizing of my stuff! They were a $1.99 each at Big Lots. If they work ok I'll go buy the rest I need. That was a great idea!

BigThunder,
I told my DH that I didn't have a trip planned to WDW in 2005.... And he looked at me like I had two heads and kept repeating, "No WDW in 2005?!"

I explained to him that is was mostly an issue of having no time ... It was funny, he would name a weekend and I would name an activity... (We do have enough points to squeeze a short visit in--but we need to bank most of our points for a Jan '06 extended family visit. )

Anyway, DH asked me to go back to the drawing board and see if we couldn't fit one trip in.. (which I booked over a weekend in June where DS has a Friday and a Monday off--however, those are the first vacation days to be cancelled if there are too many snow days   ...keep your fingers crossed for me.) :D

My hope is that you will find a way to fit in one tiny little trip in 2005--just to tide you over. :) On the bright side, you do have another 38 years of vacations to WDW... (that always makes me feel better when I think about it :) )

Omg, I can't believe you don't have a vacation planned for '05 DC, you are always going to WDW!! LOL I bet your husband is in shock. I hope the June trip works out. Our school system is the same way if we have snow days. They start snatching away scheduled days off & adding days on to the end. The first week of June was the most pleasant summer trip to wDW I ever took but now we are always scheduled untilJune 8th or 9th. It sucks! I can't pull them from school again when I have already pulled them in the fall. Once January gets here I won't feel quite so bad as it will finally be "05 & won't seem so long. Once it starts getting close to summer I will start thinking of Vero Beach & then that leads to WDW (hey, we go right by there anyway!).
