Sorry I know this has probably been done to death but i wanted to get your opinions.
I really want one of these (pink one especially :D ). I was going to wait and buy one in the states when we go in December but then i thought about warranties and stuff, what rights would i have if it went wrong.
Do you think i should get one here instead???
Lisa

But if one was to purchase a dock for recharging your iPod At the same time, would the mains voltage be wrong for the UK? (110/240) Would that mean having to buy some sort of transformer or could you simply by the iPod in the US and the dock here and still expect it to charge?

Apparently, you can charge it through the USB cable.
Now, don't ask me how that works, I'm hoping Red or Keith will explain that one.

mini iPods and the 5th gen. iPods charge through their USB/Firewire cord (depending on whether you have a PC or Mac). I have a 4th gen. so I have to plug mine into the wall to charge it since I don't have a firewire port. A 4th gen can be charged though a firewire but not USB

Hmmm too much technical data for me.
Sorry i just realised that i posted this in games instead of gadgets, sorry mods, if you could move me over, would be greatful.
So if it broke down once i got home i could just send it off then?? Also this thing about charging, i just presumed i could plug it into the wall to charge or have batteries, is this not so, would i need to pay extra for a docking craddle???
Keith where are you???? :D

It comes with a wall-chargie thingie. The dock allows you to charge while you sync

Everything you need comes in the box. I bought mine (pink! :D ) from Apple UK. I'm no techie (ask Keith! ) but I manage everything okay. I just plug it into the wall to charge it out of the kids way. In the box you get the ipod, belt clip, dock connector to Firewire cable, power adaptor and earphones.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Will probably leave it and buy it in the UK just to be on the safe side.

Sorry.... out all day yesterday :)
mini ipods YAYAYAYA they're brilliant :)
As Paula (who is more techy than she makes out by the way ;-) says, I bought mine in the states more for reasons of availability than price. There shouldn't be a problem at all but I'd only do it now if the price was really a LOT better since you'll have no problem getting one in the uk.
Basically everything will work and with the exception of a uk plug adapter, you're good to go.
But yeah to be honest, I'd grab one in the uk unless it was say £50 or something cheaper in the states

Keith, can you tell me whether the $249 the Apple store is showing for a mini is with or without tax?

ermmm can't remember :/ I think you need to go through the checkout (although not as far as entering your details ;-) to actually see.... I'd imagine it's without but :/
